Very painful
Cut up my Achilles tendon pretty bad. Just did a few miles on a nature trail. Very flat. Glad I didn't take off deep in the mountains or I'd have been in big trouble.

Worthwhile Upgrade
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are my first pair of Targhee IV hiking boots after my previous two pairs of Targhee IIIs. The fit and performance of the Targhee IV are definitely worth the upgrade.

Light weight hiking boot
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] “Light weight” is a good description if you mean it to be light duty. First, the boot is very comfortable, great for walking around on even terrain. Not so good on rocky, uneven terrain—too flexible. For rugged terrain, Keen would need to stiffen the boot, specifically, provide better torsional stiffness. It might add weight but it would be a better backpacking boot. As it is, it provides no more support than a sneaker. Nonetheless, it is truly light in weight and a joy to wear out of the box. Big toe box but sizing runs small. Get one size up from your normal shoe size.

Keen Hikers
Fit well and are comfortable. No problems with blisters or battered toes. The last pair held up well for many years and expect the same with this pair.

Comfort is there but not waterproof!
I bought these boots to be able to wear in multiple weather situations. I live in an area that will often get small 2-4 inch snowfalls. I would like to wear hiking boots, as I have for years, versus full blown snow boots. I purchased these a few months ago and already have worn them for several hundred miles of hiking, and the first snow just hit. After one hour of being in powder snow, my feet were wet. I am thankful I have a boot dryer and am so disappointed! I was hoping for more out of the Keen boots!

So Far So Good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these boots to wear for work— I’m a barista in a mobile coffee cart (16-foot camper) that parks in a gravel lot which is often muddy, snowy, or icy except in summer. I needed traction plus support and waterproof. My old Keen hiking boots (3-ish years old, not as many miles on them as they probably should have had) started making my feet hurt after a 5-hour shift. Being pregnant, I knew I needed something more supportive to be able to keep working. Unfortunately, it’s been too cold and snowy the past week or so to work, so I only really got to try them out for a week. But they kept me safe and comfortable and my feet didn’t hurt or feel tired and unsupported even when wearing the boots all day. I got the black because they are more trendy and versatile and I won’t be wearing them for much actual hiking. Since they’re more neutral, I even wore them to church with a dress yesterday. For reference, I’m a woman but can’t usually find boots in my size in women’s. I got a 10 based on my last pair and they fit just right.
