Joisian Flower Appliqué Midi Dress

The ultramarine color is gorgeous in person: rich, vibrant, and incredibly eye-catching. The corset-style bodice is also very flattering, and the wrap-around tie detail adds a nice, feminine shape. That said, the fit runs very small. For reference, I’m typically a size 6 (5’1”, 135 lbs, 34DD) and had to size up to a 10 just to get it to fit. Even then, the proportions were off for a petite frame. I ended up needing significant alterations—hemming, shortening the straps quite a bit, and adding bust darts to make it work. The biggest miss for me was the flower appliqué. It felt oversized, floppy, and honestly a bit costume-like. I ultimately had it removed. If you’re willing to invest in tailoring, the dress can turn into something beautiful because the color and structure have real potential. But straight off the rack, especially for petites, it’s a tough fit and the design details don’t quite land as expected.
