Sullivan Plain Toe Derby (Men)

With the pointy toe and top quality leather, this shoe does the job of signaling formality and class. However, it comes at a cost. The insole is pathetic in terms of padding. I may look good in these shoes, but dare not wear them more than 2 hours. I bought a size 12. In order to get more comfort, I'd have to buy a size 15 insole to get enough padding extending into the very pointy nose of the shoe. Otherwise, my toes will be uncomfortable falling over the edge of a standard insole. If J&M did everything else right in terms of materials and stitching, they should go further with a proper padded insole like the memory foam of the competition.

Bought these earlier this year, now I need new shoes because they’re falling apart at the seams. The heels are composite wood glued together which separate over time, the “leather” scuffed a few days into wearing them, and the laces snapped. Don’t bother with these, save money in the long run and just go for a nicer pair of shoes.
