McGuffey 2 Plain Toe Derby

Sole split left to right across balls on my feet after less than 6 months.

I am in retail and in my feet 7-8 hours a day, when I get home I leave them on while I cook because they are just that comfortable! My pair is about 14 months old and likely 1600’s of walking and I am just starting to notice some wear of the insoles… so time for a new pair! Little wear on the soles and the leather has held up flawlessly. I just hit it with polish or mink oil every once in a while.

They look great and are very comfortable. However I am on my second pair because the soles wear out and break apart. The first pair did this after a few months and the store I bought them from graciously replaced them. Well, a few months down the road on the replacements and the exact same thing happened. Mind you, I alternate black and brown shoes so I only wear these two days per week in an office. I'm not on concrete or in a factory with chemicals or anything. I'm not overweight. I just don't understand why shoes that are this costly just fall apart.

Super comfortable and very stylish - they go with chinos as nicely as with blue jeans.

First poor review of a J&M product. After 10 months of ownership, I have to give it one star for two primary reasons. 1. They do not breath whatsoever. Not sure if it is leather but ultimately it is a sweat box. 2. Gluing of the sole has commenced to pull away on the sides and the bottom, which appears to be a crack. Considering my shoe collection, these have not been worn extensively which adds to the disappointment for the premature wear and performance.

Great leather upper, with a smooth, soft touch. Fairly wide in the heel, midfoot and forefoot. Not a ton of rubber on the outsole but feels grippy enough and keeps the weight down. Leather color is a bit darker in person as compared to the online images.
