Decide how much excess you want
I have a 26" waist. If you want the look in the picture, order a large. I initially ordered a large according to reviews and it looks just like the picture above, which I find to be laughably long when worn at the waist. Keep in mind the leather is stiff so if you have this much excess it will stick out and look really awkward and ill-fitted. I returned the large and purchased the small, which is 4" shorter. This is the size I'm sticking with as I do not plan to wear this belt at my hips. It fits well over a thick dress and I tried it on over the dress + cardigan as well. Things to note, pull the belt taut through the hole BEFORE you wrap into the loop. Otherwise, the knot will look bulky. This is a smooth leather than may scratch easily, but I think the light scratches will buff out easily with conditioner since it is all leather. I bought it in black and am considering the brown now.

What in the world
This is the absolute worst strip of leather I have ever purchased. The design is ridiculous, and it looks ridiculous on. It is VERY, VERY small, and on my 26 inch waist, I would have to get an XXL for it to look like the pic. Save your money!!!! Waist of money!!!!

For super small waists.
Returning. Don't bother with this unless your waist is very slender. I purchased a medium and my waist is 26.5 and it is small! To achieve the look in the images you will have to be 23" or smaller waist. The leather is also very stiff and seems to not be that great of quality. Very disappointed with this belt - especially for the money!

So chic- finally made the splurge
I have been eying this for quite some time and finally bit the bullet. While this is more than I would typically spend on just a belt, it's very chic and will elevate any outfit. I am not sure about the quality; the leather seems to scratch easily, which is a bummer. I am planning to keep it though, because I just love the look. It actually looks much better when styled with less of the belt hanging below (about half of what is shown in the Nordstrom photo). Personal opinion. I am a size 2, 26" and the size medium gives me the look I am going for- at both my waist for dresses, and hips for pants or midi skirts. Love, love, love!

Beautiful minimalistic look
I love this belt! Great quality and fun design. The belt does run small, though. I am normally always a size small or size 4/27, however, I needed to go with a medium in order to achieve the cute looped look. I am wearing this at my waist and have not tried with jeans.

Cute but not practical
This is a very cute leather belt, which is thicker than expected and therefore is tougher to put on. I was having a hard time putting it in a knot and when you do, the knot is bulky and not flattering. Had to return it.
