Hooded Raincoat

I am loving this raincoat. It looks more fashionable in person than the pictures suggest. The leather collar thing is slightly weird (it holds the hood onto the coat) but I kind of like the weirdness. As a resident of the Pacific Northwest, I can vouch that it does actually work well as a raincoat too!

I purchased this Ilse Jacobsen Rain Slicker in size 38. Not sure if it was the correct size, so before returning it, I ordered the same item in size 40. I modeled both sizes for my friend and we both decided the 40 was better for me. Was ready to send the 38 back, when she decided she loved it and since it fit her, she kept it. Wore it to work the next day and got lots of complements. It is just a very nice looking slicker. I love Nordstroms because I can order and return without incurring extra expense. I do not live near a store, so this feature makes buying this was sooooo comvenient.

Love the raincoat except for the leather/plastic (?) strap around the hood base. It actually secured the hood to the coat. It’s detachable and seceptable to (rain) moisture getting in or settling around that area. So disappointed...otherwise it’s perfect! Was afraid to wear & try so I’m returning it. Want a tight seal around the neck with no worries about the strap moving. Size, no problem to size down.

I love this rain coat so much. I couldn’t decide between gray and navy as both colors looked great. The style is chic and flattering for all body types. Quality is on point with well thought out details, including good pocket placement. I found the small size (34-my usual size) to be a little snug over anything bulky so I sized up to a 36 so I could comfortably wear the coat over thick sweaters. The hood strap is a little odd as other reviewers have pointed out, but the dealbreaker for me is the hood size. Sadly, the hood will not fit over a low bun, high bun or any head with big hair. As a lady with long, thick hair who often wears it up, I need a hood that will still cover my head and face. Sadly, this one falls short (no pun intended!).

I love the fit and that it is lower in the back, a nice look. Because it is a slicker no rain gets in! It is roomie enough to wear the quilted coat underneath for colder days. The hood is attached by a belt that would seem odd but isn't in my opinion. The only thing that I do not care for is pocket location. It is on the side seam. I find that an awkward location. I use pockets a lot when I walk but I am getting use to it.

I ordered a size up because I was on the borderline and like to be able to wear sweaters, heavier tops underneath. It seems to run large and the tag inside says "dk indiigo" and I ordered "dk shadow". I went ahead and ordered the "dk shadow" in the smaller size to compare. I have to say I'm not impressed with the strap around the hood which is vinyl (?) would rather have leather for over $200. Otherwise, the slicker did look stylish.
