iD3^® The Egg Knife Block 9 Piece

When I first got it out of the box, I was impressed by how heavy it was. It is much larger than I imagined. So it fits on my countertop just below the upper cabinets. I just can’t open it under the cabinet. I actually have to scoot it up towards me and out from underneath the cabinet to open, no biggie. Now I didn’t read the entire description so I don’t know if it states what is all included. You won’t get the basics like in a knife block from Target or wherever. Ie. Set of 4 steak knives (no), scissors (no), knife sharpener (no). It comes with one each of different chopping knives and ones you use to cut small veggies and such. My only big issue I had was when I first got it out of the box and pulled the egg out and opened it, I accidentally pulled the wooded part up and off. The knives don’t go into slots. It’s actually a bunch of long bristles packed tight to fit inside the round wooden ring. And once you pull it off, the bristles are difficult to squeeze tightly back through. So I had to use tape while holding them all tightly together so I could reassemble it. It worked. Then I had to use a knife (since I finally had some really sharp ones) to cut the tape in a few spots so the bristles could spread out a bit so the knives can slide in a bit easier. Now with that design in mind, the serrated knife was a little difficult to push into it and the extra long one was also a bit difficult to get in. I’m guessing this product is geared towards chefs or people who love to chop, cut and cook. I only cook occasionally as I don’t really have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen. But it looks pretty cool and unique! Lucky for me this arrive the night before Thanksgiving that I am hosting at my place!

The concept of an artsy knife block is appealing. The block is functional and knives are exceptionally durable. The design of the block however is extremely bulky. The photo is much more sleek than the product so be especially careful with dimensions. If you’re in search of creative kitchen tools, this is great, but it is not sleek at all.
