Hyperion 3 Running Shoe (Women)

Definitely not an improvement from the 2. The shoe is not responsive and feels like it is compressing your toes. I've run in every model of Hyperion and liked every one but this one is terrible. I've run in it for over a week hoping that I can "break them in" but every run makes me miss the Hyperion 2 more and more.

As a long-time fan of the Hyperion line, I was excited to try the Hyperion 3, but unfortunately it was a major disappointment. The Hyperion 3 retains the lightweight feel that has always been a hallmark of the series, but beyond that it bears little resemblance to the Hyperion 2. The fit is noticeably narrower and seems to run smaller, especially through the toe box. What concerns me most, however, is the ride. The Hyperion 2 was responsive, energetic, and fun to run in. The Hyperion 3 feels much less lively and lacks the snap and responsiveness that made its predecessor such an outstanding shoe. This does not feel like an improvement or even a natural progression of the Hyperion line. It feels like an entirely different shoe wearing the Hyperion name. Based on my experience, I agree with many of the other reviewers who have expressed similar concerns. Please bring back the Hyperion 2.

However, I unfortunately switched from my trusty Adrenalines to this shoe and lost my first ever toenail! I’ve been running full Marathons for 20 years and this has never happened until my feet met the Hyperion 3. Ugh. Do not recommend:(

The theme seems to be if you loved the Hyperion 2 you hate the 3 and if you never got to experience the 2, you love the 3. I’m in the “will there ever be a shoe like the 2 made by anybody ever again.” I’ve tried the 3 multiple times and tried to like it and I just can’t. The 8.5 is too short, the 9 is too long. I have a narrow foot (but buy regular width) and it feels too narrow on me. And why does it have so much padding around the ankle? Seems like a tendonitis disaster in the making. The 2 was the perfect shoe and the 3 feels weirdly padded and clunky with none of the sleek, just-makes-you-want-to-run feel of the 2.

I have the 2024 Hyperion Speed that I use as my vacation running shoe and have loved those, so when it came time to replace my everyday runners, these felt like an easy choice. The fit is great (I normally wear a 7 but sized up to a 7.5), and the cushioning is a perfect balance—not too much, not too little. I’m a forefoot/midfoot runner, so I’ll be honest that they did take a little breaking in, but after about 20 miles they felt just right. I wear them 1–2 times a week for easy runs and have been really happy with them. I’d definitely recommend these, especially if you don’t want to run in big, super-foamy shoes.
