These are attention-getters for sure! I ordered a size up as suggested, but had to return for my normal size. I think that if you're on the petite end of the spectrum, you may want to stick to your regular size. I can see where they would seem tight initially, but these will stretch with wear and could end up looking saggy after a few hours. It's also worth mentioning that the pattern of these pants warrants a smooth, tight fit. When they start to gather or sag in places, it distracts from the intended look of the stripe.
