Not as great as its’ predecessor, but still great!

I’ll start this review with sizing. Other reviewers stated that the Clifton 9 was larger than the Clifton 8, so I was skeptical ordering my typical size. My typical size ended up working out and felt about the same as my Clifton 8. The toe box feels a bit more roomy in the Clifton 9, which is why I think some are saying to size down. I think you could be safe going TTS or a half size down, but I wouldn’t size down more than that. Comfort wise, these are definitely not as comfortable as the Clifton 8, but still much more comfy than other running shoe brands. I have relatively high arches and still feel good support from the shoe. I ended up opting for the Pale Mauve and Shifting Sand and am in love with the colors in person. Even with the comfort difference, I still bought 2 pairs and plan to keep them!

RECEIVED USED, SMELLY, COVERED IN RED DUST SHOES

Hoka Clifton 9’s are the best walking shoe on the market, but BEWARE BUYING THEM FROM NORDSTROM ONLINE. I received the cloud blue/ice flow Clifton 9’s an hour ago and upon opening the box I was appalled to see and smell what I received. The stench of the shoe was atrocious. They were obviously USED/WORN, smelled beyond belief, and covered in a red dust. The shoes were dirty and I was in disbelief that such a high scale company would send shoes like this that I paid full price for. Unbelievable and unacceptable. Hoka’s yes, Nordstrom NO, this was unacceptable.

Better than the 8s, worse than the 7s

Long-time HOKA fan user here - typically use mine for running (~20 miles a week, nothing crazy). The Clifton 7s were some of the best running shoes I had ever tried. Then HOKA exploded in popularity and I believe that quality declined greatly... the 8s were some of the absolute worst running shoes I had ever tried on -- the arch was far too high and narrow, and cut into my foot, the toe box was too narrow (despite sizing up 1/2 a size). ***Pleased to announce that the 9s ARE improved from the 8s*** but are inferior to the 7s. The quality just isn't quite the same, which is disappointing. I went up 1/2 a size in these (which is normal for running shoes) and they fit well. As always, very supportive, and do a great job protecting my knees when running.

Best walking shoe!

I do not run but I walk at least 15,000 steps per day. I have tried all the brands and this is the best. Light & comfortable. It makes me to continue walking. I bought the Black/black option when it was available.
