Knit Pencil Skirt

This skirt runs pretty large. I've been enjoying myself this summer and probably put on more weight than I care to admit, yet I was hopeful and ordered a large (knowing full-well that I probably couldn't fit it.) To my surprise it was actually too big, which never happens. So I would recommend ordering 1 to 2 sizes down. The material was exquisite, thick enough for winter/fall.

I bought my usual size and it was baggy in very strange places, including the lower leg. Pockets are in a strange spot and don’t close completely so I could touch my fingers together around the front. Due to placement of the pockets, belly area is bulky— not an area I need extra bulk. Frumpy length. My husband actually said “I feel like you’re going to serve me something at a diner.”

I don’t know how I did not realize that this was a pull-on skirt. Perhaps that is why it ran so big. The pockets in the front, while practical, subtracted from the look of a tailored skirt. The fabric acts like a magnet to lint and fur. While I have two dogs, I was afraid even to lay it down on the dresser. I could never have gotten out of the house and still looked clean, although if you have no pets you may not have this problem. It was comfortable, but I like my clothes to be more fitted and thought it to be a bit frumpy looking on me. Also, it was too long. I am 5 feet tall, 110 lbs., and the petite petite hit me mid-calf.

I was so excited about a pencil skirt with pockets, but this is literally mid-calf on me (I'm 5'4") and looks terrible. Even though the item description says Regular and Petite, the one I purchased is black and did not come in petite sizes. It is not even worth shortening it because that would take away the pencil skirt shape. The material is nice and thick and the wide waistband is flattering, but I had to return it.

I should have read the description on this skirt more closely...it has NO zipper. It's a slip-on skirt which is weird because it's supposed to be dressy or professional, and there's not a lot of give in the waist. I can see this being difficult to get on if you have a large bottom. It's a deep black, which I like, but the fit is off somehow. I think it has to do with the front pockets. Nonetheless, I'm keeping it because it was on sale and I can make it work. However, if you're looking for a well-made, nice fitting skirt, look elsewhere.

I love the color of this skirt; it’s a beautiful, rich burgundy. Unfortunately, it’s too long and ends at an awkward spot below my knees. I’m 5’6” and I think I should have ordered a petite. The fabric also bunched in a weird way in front that was not flattering. I returned it.
