Trademark Heart Ring

I purchased this ring for my engagement photos, as my engagement ring is silver and I don’t have any other nice silver jewelry. I intended to wear this on my right ring finger, so I ordered the same size as my engagement ring. When it arrived, it was so tiny, it barely went past my nail. I figured Gucci jewelry sizing must be off, so I went in store to exchange for the correct size. The ring arrived on a Tuesday and I went in the immediate following Saturday. The first Nordstrom employee refused my exchange as he said the item was tarnished, and he called over the department manager. After inspecting the ring, she agreed that it was tarnished and refused any return or exchange. I was flabbergasted as it had been in my possession for 4 days and was unwearable. The manager was very rude and basically insinuated that I was returning a counterfeit item (would they have treated a white customer like this? I doubt it, but I digress). Luckily I had the presence of mind to call customer service before leaving the store, who was kind enough to summon the overall store manager to find me. The store manager inspected the ring and agreed it was tarnished, but agreed how unreasonable this is given that it’s supposed to be sterling silver and has been my possession for mere days. The store manager was kind and understanding, processed the return, and she assured me that she would have a word with the department manager who treated me so rudely. Now I am hesitant to reorder this ring, as it appears to tarnish so quickly. I walked out of Nordstrom and directly into Tiffany’s and purchased their version of the heart ring instead. TLDR: ring arrived tarnished. It’s either not sterling silver or Nordstrom sold a counterfeit item. Nordstrom refused return.
