Gizeh Big Buckle Slide Sandal (Women)

I purchased the Cognac Leather since I loved the color online, they were sold out everywhere and finally had my size back in stock to place an order sight unseen. Thought it would be a great neutral & loved the new 'big buckle' look. Size perfect as usual 36 and no complaints with the gorgeous color of the leather. However, I understand that they want to update the classics but when you changed the footbed material to a smooth leather there are a couple of issues. 1) a bit squeaky at first and that was walking around the house. 2)After breaking in wearing at home a bit, ventured outside and quickly noticed although leather is smooth, just NOT the same as the original footbed that molds to your feet. 3) Feet sweat a bit and smooth leather doesn't absorb like the original . So overall love the big buckle design, the overall look, but not sure how they will perform in hot Texas summers when worn outside and I don't have sweaty feet issue. Need feet to be comfy and not slosh if smooth leather doesn't perform well in hot temps. So the verdict still is out and might have to wear only indoors if not as cozy as other styles. Something to consider when updating Birks....sometimes don't change a good thing if not broken. Buckles are one thing...but your footbed is iconic.

I haven’t worn Birkenstock’s since the 90’s. I was looking for a cute comfortable summer shoe and saw these. Love the look, however the one major issue I have is my foot is like a suction cup when I walk. I’m hoping this goes away the more the shoe forms around my foot. If not the cute shoe will go back.
