impossible sizing

I am a size 9 but ordered an 8 1/2 due to reviews. I do not have wide feet but they felt a bit narrow when I walked in them, I had significant heal slip, so I returned them. The 8 was way too small. I’ve not had this issue with other loafers. The right fit was impossible for me in this brand. They are beautiful and well made but sizing is way off.
