received worn shoes
I was very disappointed when my sneakers arrived… when I opened red the box the NB tags had been removed, the laces were already laced and there was “dirt, lint” signs that the shoes had been worn outside. Not thanks. I’ll continue to only buy my NB from the actual store.

I was very disappointed when my sneakers arrived… when I opened red the box the NB tags had been removed, the laces were already laced and there was “dirt, lint” signs that the shoes had been worn outside. Not thanks. I’ll continue to only buy my NB from the actual store.

Didn't meet the mark
This is my first pair of the Made in USA 990v6 but I have bought plenty of new balances before. I have heard great things about these shoes so I was excited. Out of the box, you could tell these were not made with the highest standards. There are threads loose and ripped, major creases and the laces are torn. Outside of that the shoes look great and feel great. Maybe a little pinker than I was expecting. Maybe its just a case of high expectations not getting met, but these didn't meet the mark.

Not the previous 990's
I have worn the 990 series since the 1980's and recently purchased the 990v6, same size that I have worn since my original purchase. Nearly all of my purchases have been direct from the factory, as this one is. The V6 seemed stiff at first but thought they would be more flexible as I wore them. Not so. The shoes remained stiff and after a couple of weeks, my feet began to hurt while exercising. That was never the case with the numerous previous 990's I have purchased. I switched back to the 990's I purchased several years ago and the difference in fit and comfort is remarkable. The "new" 990v6 does not appear to be of the same quality as previous versions and does not fit or wear as well. Is NB cutting quality to hold the price point? I don't know but I'd pay considerably more for a new 990 that matched the comfort and quality of the historic line. I was a NB 990 lifer. Not certain of that now.
