Luscious bag - almost medium size
I really don't need another bag(!), but last year I just learned about Frye, and I feel like I totally scored. I am growing more disappointed that bags, clothes, shoes are all declining in quality and now are mostly synthetics - with the tanking global economy. THEN I discovered Frye! LOL. The leather is so nice - very thick, and this particular finish is "antique pull-up" which doesn't really scratch. If you scratch it, just rub it, and it fades into the background. I never heard of such a thing! The more popular bags are thinner leather, and if you scratch, then GAME OVER. With Frye's antique pull-up, it only improves with age.
Frye bags are sturdy, beautiful, and I like the simpler, clean lines of this bag, like this GORGEOUS Melissa saddle/crossbody. Some of their other bags can look a little clunky, but this one has nice smooth, round lines. So elegant-casual. I think the saddle bag is in for Fall, so I may keep it. The Wine color is pretty dark, and doesn't look at all like the cheap, lighter colors. This color bag would go o.k. with black pants and a little dressy, I think. So it's not as distressed, but it is probably more versatile.
I really love the roomy outside pocket under the (full) leather flap where my phone and keys can fit , and I don't have to struggle to find 'em. The size is perfect for me - I can fit my bulging wallet (receipts, not cash), my make-up bag, floss, solid lotion, coin purse (for rosary), note pad. Can easily fit a bottle of water or sunglasses case - and probably a lot more.
I heard burgundy/wine might be the in-color for Fall. Wasn't going to keep it, but now I may! For the sale price, I feel like it's such a *great* deal. Can't beat Frye quality and incredible leather! With the way things are going, I really doubt next year you'll be able to get this kind of bag for this price. Try it!!! You'll love it!!!

Scratches easily
The bag is a decent size and looks slightly overwhelming on my small frame of 5'1". The leather color cognac is a bit darker in real life and the strap felt cheaply made. I didn't love it like the other reviewers. I get the distressed kind of look but it scratches very easily with a gentle touch of finger nail. The bag is also made in China. In my opinion, not worth the price even for the anniversary sale mark down.

Give it some time...
I am not hugely into purses/pocketbooks/handbags (whatever you want to call them) but I do carry one every day so I wanted to invest in a nice, cool , classic one. I've wanted a brown leather one for a long time so when I saw this Melissa Saddle one in the anniversary sale I was intrigued. I wear black all the time so a brown bag stands out.
When I got it the first thing I noticed was the beautiful color of the leather (I got cognac) and the bag looked nice but seemed really stiff. And that stiffness made it seem small. I went into a store and the rep told me that they soften up quite a bit. I went ahead and loaded it up with my stuff and within a couple of days, it was already getting softer. I plan to keep it forever so it'll just keep getting better.
It holds my cosmetic bag and my large Coach wallet- I stand them straight up and down. I also have my kindle in there right now. I like that it has a hook for my keys.
Yay Frye! Yay Nordstrom! <3

It's a Frye Bag...what else is there to say
I own several Frye Bags and they are perfect. They wear well, and get better with time. If you like a bag that gets worn in the more you use it...get a Frye bag. Everywhere I go...people love my bags. Frye is my favorite.

beautiful bag
i agree with all previous reviewers: this is a beautiful bag. the leather is gorgeous, the color (cognac) is warm and perfect for fall, and it is spacious enough for a variety of items. however, for me, because it is a structured bag, i just felt it was too broad and didn't look flattering on. i prefer slouchier bags that can hold more but look better against the body.

A Nice Surprise
I ordered this Frye crossbody during the Anniversary sale, mindful that I could always return it if the feeling wasn't love. Boy was I wrong! The leather smell right out of the bag caught me and the wine color is deep and rich. The clincher was when I put it on. Many bags are marketed as crossbody bags but none of them fit like this one does. It settled next to my left hip as if it was custom made and felt incredibly comfortable. The strap does not ride up my neck (you know what I'm talking about) and all parts of the bag are easily accessible. Clearly, a return is not happening. I'm quite pleased. If you are looking for a casual bag with a distinctly hippy vibe (but one crafted out of luscious materials), then I strongly suggest that you look at this Frye bag.

Wonderful Purse!
I received this purse as a gift for my birthday because I love Frye products and it matches my boots. This purse is wonderful! It is just the right size- not too big, not too small- and a nice weight. The leather is soft and gorgeous. One reviewer did say it scratches easily and that is true. I don't mind because I think it adds to the character of the leather, but I haven't used mink oil (I do this with all my leather) yet, so I assume the scratches will be less noticeable afterward. This purse is made well and matches everything. It is a keeper!
