Bowery Plain Toe Boot

Look incredible however I couldn’t wear them because they dug into my ankle so badly. I understand that it takes time to break them in, but I am a busy person with little to no time for Mickey Mousing around.

These boots fit me a little narrow in the toe box. I had to order a half size up. I usually wear cap toe boots which to my mind seem to break in a little faster. At least for me. These have been mostly comfortable, but are going to need some break in time. I really like the side zip. And the distressed look to them is very appealing. Looking forward to the time when they’re as broken in in fit as they are in looks.

Have had several pairs of Frye boots. This boot looks great but the left foot felt like there was a large crease going through it. Had them send me two more pairs. Same issue. Brought them back.

I actually bought them because of that reason. The pictures when I got them they don’t look like the pictures at all. Sad

The moment I opened the box the smell of the “Frye” leather was amazing. Once I pulled them from the box I was immediately impressed with the quality. The fit was exactly what I bought and out of the box they are comfortable. Every time I wear these someone makes a comment about them. Either “I love those, where did I you get them”, or “I’ve never seen boots like those, what brand are they”.

Pretty good boot for the sale price. At first leather has a whiff of the outlet (ones made in China) as is sort of synthetic looking and quite stiff but after oiling it and wearing a few weeks now looks more like leather. It’s mid-weight. This boot is made in Mexico. Quality: not nearly as nice as Frye’s “Made in America” collection eg the Prison boot, but decent. Last or sole is flat—and the way the shoe is built you can’t get an insole in there or it will lift your heel right out of the box. (same with Prison boot FYI). I tried six or seven. So, only good for feet that don’t require arch support. The combo rubber/leather sole is fairly comfortable. Zipper works well. Aesthetic is good. I can’t walk or stand in these for more than a few hours or my feet feel bruised, but that’s because I need arch support. They are also narrow and fit like a glove (another reason insoles don’t work) so watch out if you have wide feet. They do not have a removable insole either—Just a thin lining glued over some very thin padding. Runs a tad large and in this boot that might result in heel slippage so consider going 1/2 size small.
