Swim Too Deep Turtleneck Sweater

Do not underestimate the recommendations to size down! I took a small and, while I love it, it does swallow me. I’m 5’6–it covers my bum. I measure 42(34G)-31–42 (probably more cuz Covid, but I refuse to measure currently lol). I sway between M and L due to bra size and cut of certain tops. The green is a lovely jewel tone. I’d definitely snag more on sale! I might try an XS as I’m sure that would fit and still have an oversized fit.

FP always runs large. This one is insane. I’m a L/XL in normal (non-FP) sizing. Bought my sister this sweater in an XS for Xmas. It looked huge when it arrived, so I tried it on, and it still looks slightly oversized on me - sort of what you’d expect. I’m 5’5” and it covers my bum. Maybe I’ll keep for myself to be cozy at home though it’s not slimming. Just can’t believe how big this one runs.

Too oversized. I wanted an oversized sweater, and I sized down, but this is ridiculously large. You know how they seem to be showing models these days who look like a size XS wearing an XXL? Well, normally when you order something like that it's not really that big. This sweater is very much that big, although the arms are not quite as long as they appear in the picture. It also weighs literally pounds, and is not very soft. It was like lifting an area rug when I removed it from the shipping box. It's literally at least as heavy as a winter coat. If it were not so weighty, it might look cute for someone who can wear extremely avant garde styles without looking silly. But it's so heavy I don't think anybody would really enjoy wearing it. Further, it was shipped on a hanger, and had holes in the shoulders. This thing is just too heavy, regardless of size.

Ok. Yes, FP runs big in some items. When it does, that is the style of the item as it is intended - you can see how oversized this sweater is on the models, and it is supposed to be! I think often people keep sizing down just because they can, and then feel like the item looks frumpy, but the actual problem is sizing down like that changes the entire intended look. I am 5’5”, 138, and wear a small 80% of the time; the remaining 20% of the time, I split evenly between sizing down to a xs and sizing up to a medium. I ordered my typical small in this sweater and it is very oversized, just as it is on the model. I could size down to an xs, but then it wouldn’t fit as advertised. I’m sure if they made a xxxs in this, it would cover my body with room to spare, but it would no longer be the same style and look that it was intended to be. Embrace the style and forego seeing just how small of a sweater you can fit your body into - it will be adorable and cozy and even a bit glamorous if you do!
