Feu de Bois (Wood Fire) Classic Candle

I rely heavily on reviews when purchasing products and yet I have never written one...until now. Do NOT waste your money on this candle. I fell for the diptyque hype and received a tiny candle that burned in no time for $28. Oh and the label peeled off from the heat of the flame. I like the finer things in life just like the rest of us, but I think I'll spend my money elsewhere next time I want to purchase a candle. I only gave it one star because I had to.

I'm a big fan of Diptyque. AND of wood fires, in real life. And after burning this candle for several hours, I still wasn't smelling that unmistakable, nostalgic fragrance. This has a nice, understated scent, but it should have a new name. "Low key wood fire" or "I thought I smelled a wood fire but I was mistaken" or "Wood fire adjacent." If you're hoping for the real deal (in candle form), this isn't it.

Do NOT buy this candle. Unless you are a billionaire. Because you cannot buy just one, I promise, and it is a pretty pricey addiction. It smells phenomenal, like a delicious wood-burning fire place, but much more addictive. The scent is unlike anything I've smelled before in a candle, much more complex. It's warm, cozy, and heavenly, especially on chilly winter nights spent stuck in your home. It also burns very evenly, with a nice flame. I would highly recommend (despite the price tag).

Best candle scent ever! I actually didn’t like it at first, but after lighting it, I’m obsessed with the scent. It’s warm, smoky, with a slight hint of sweetness, like salted caramel. Do not judge by how it smells out of the box. I found that it smelled a lot better and different after lighting. It’s probably the type of scent where one would either hate it, esp if you’re used to floral/fruity scents, or really love it. I’m definitely the latter.

I just got my candle today. First off, these are pricey candles. I hesitated spending $32 on a small votive size candle. I didn't even tell my husband the price, because he would have died, literally. I was very drawn to the wood fire title, because I have looked and looked for a true 'wood fire' scent and have yet to find it, until perhaps now. Out of the package it smelled more like a burning fire then it does, actually burning. I am a bit disappointed that the aroma doesn't waft through all the rooms of our 2500 sq house, but really, what candle does? As far as the scent, I have to say it's pretty dang spot on to what a warm, wood burning fire on a cold day, would smell like. Actually, to me, and what I love the most about it, is the fact that it smells exactly like walking through a cold forest of pine trees and smelling the aroma of people with wood fires burning in their homes. That clean smell of the cold air and then that wood smell. I love that smell and that hit it for me. It isn't a totally strong scented candle, even while burning. But, maybe that's a good thing. Some can be way overpowering. If you're looking for a candle that smells cozy, then this is the candle for you. It makes you want to curl up on the couch with a warm blanket, a glass of wine or cocoa and a good book. This will be perfect to burn on Christmas morning!
