I debated between ordering a medium and a large, which would allow me to comfortably wear layers on an upcoming trip to Europe. The large fits beautifully but isn't roomy enough to wear a heavy sweater under it, so I would say it is a "small large." I kept it because it is a good-looking, comfortable coat. I love the belt detailing on the back, which will make the belt difficult to lose--even for me. Be prepared to reinforce the buttons.

Not for petite!
I got the XS Petite but if you are under 5'2, 5'4 well built, forget it! Arms length not for petites... overall not petite!

Me likes
Very nice. Ultramarine size Small.
The color is just as beautiful and vibrant as shown. The hood will likely come in handy too, but also detachable so you don't always have to look like you are wearing a rain coat. The coat is very satin-y, silky and sleek in person. Not the impression I got off the photo. Not a bad thing, but makes it less casual.
I was looking for a go-to Spring trench. I am definitely keeping this, but I dont think this will be it. Not casual enough. I need something I can mess up when running about, get caught in bad weather with, accidentally spill something on, and not worry about dry cleaning. Just something to grab when I head out. This is not the one. The material and color is too precious, I'd be afraid of messing it up. Besides, I have to go into Manhattan a lot and it might be good to set something aside only for important stuff.
I was apprehensive about the length. Never bought a short trench. Always though a short trench contradicted the purpose of a trench coat. I am 5'7 so was worried it would only go down to my waist, but the length is about halfway down my bottom, maybe a tad more. And since I am using it for Spring it really does not need to be a full trench.
Also, I must make a comment on the belt that I did not realize when purchasing. The belt does not have an a hook and holes. You have to wrap it manually, in a knot. Probably the only drawback, but the lack of a metal hook and tons of holes makes the coat look more sleek and minimalistic.
Im in love with the color. What more perfect for the Spring?!

Great for Travel
I bought this jacket in tan color. It will be perfect for our upcoming vacation. Lightweight, casual but still classy enough for dressing up a bit for dinner out. I will need to wear layers under it if the weather is colder because it is very thin.

Good quality coat, but unflattering
Like a previous reviewer, I thought the fabric was too stiff, and the collar was too big and unwieldy on my 5' 1" frame. I felt rather 'mannish' wearing this trench. I'm generally a Petite Small, but ordered both PS and PM on the basis of earlier reviews. The PM was a better fit, though still a fraction tight across the back. But I do have fairly broad shoulders. The belt was also far too long for me. The quality was good and the price, but I sent both coats back as they did nothing for me.

Finally, the Perfect Short Trench!
I am 5'2", 120lbs and bought the petite small in sand. I usually wear a 4, but sometimes need to size up to a 6 because of swimmer's arms and shoulders. The fit and styling are perfect for a petite woman and I didn't have to sacrifice any features - it is water repellent and has a detachable hood with a drawstring (I bought a hooded raincoat a couple years ago whose hood didn't have a drawstring and it constantly, annoyingly blows off my head). I am very happy with this coat. I would note that for me, there is probably not room for a bulky sweater because of the inset sleeves.
