Velvet Blazer

The drape of this jacket is lovely, but it's VERY small. I'm between a small and medium in most clothes, and the medium was very tight. The shoulder seam came up a good 1.5 inches on my shoulders, and the front barely closed. The shoulders also seemed really puffy, like an '80s puffed shoulder blazer - but that could be because of the fit. The front hook-and-eye closure didn't function properly, and it took me several minutes to get it open so I could try it on. I definitely wouldn't try closing it while wearing, since I wouldn't feel like struggling with it later. I'm on the fence about trying a Large because of this. I'll also add that this arrived from Nordstrom tossed in a plastic bag, very wrinkled and bunched up rather than folded, hung, or with any protective tissue. Obviously a return, and disappointing in how it was delivered.

I bought this blazer the moment it appeared online. I love deep green, and it's even deeper and greener than it looks in the picture! The fabric is rich and soft, and the ruched sleeves give the piece a contemporary look. Somehow in the way the material was pieced together, there is very subtly contrasted trim at the neckline and at the top of the pockets. There are shoulder pads, but they are small and rounded, so the blazer does not have that business suit look. This blazer is definitely a slim cut. I wear a size 10, and it fits perfectly in a size large. If I wore a 12, I would order the large and the extra large. I will wear this with black dress pants in late fall and winter -- for years and years!

I just received this velvet jacket in the berry color and it is very pretty. The sleeves are ruched, which I like, and it drapes nicely. I normally am size small on top and I ordered the medium, so it does run small. Also, the fabric while soft, is on the heavy side, so this is definitely a later fall type of jacket. I really like it.

I normally wear size petite 10 or Medium and after reading previous reviews I ordered this jacket in size L. It fit perfectly. So it runs smaller than normal. The velvet does not have top quality but for the price it’s not that bad, either. I will work for my evening dress. I kept it. I removed one star because of the sizing issues and the material not being very good.
