Off the Shoulder Sheath Dress

This dress is very cute, and slimming. It does fit close to the body, and requires shapewear. The fabric is thin and lightweight. There is stretch to the fabric. I usually wear a 2 Petite in Eliza J dresses (I am 5'2, 107, for reference), and the 2 Petite fit me, but felt a little tight. I may size up to the 4 Petite. The dress is on the long side for a petite, and comes to the middle of my knees. I would have preferred the dress to come to the top of the knees, but shortening it will ruin the stripe design. The way the stripes are thinner in the middle and wider at the top and bottom gives the illusion of a slimmer waist and hips, and camouflages belly issues. The pink stripe that goes across the top and bottom adds just the right amount of contrasting color to the navy and white. This dress goes great with white or pink pumps. The top of the dress has stretchy, tight elastic, which helps the top stay put off the shoulders. The online photo shows the dress low on the shoulders, however, I found that it came up higher on the shoulders. The sleeve length is bracelet length, about 3-4 inches above the wrists. There is a white lining under the outer fabric, and you have to really pull on it to smooth it down (otherwise it bunches up and causes visible lines and bumps under the dress). There is zipper in the back, however, the top of the zipper starts several inches down from the top of the dress, so you have to put the dress on over your head. This dress will be great for spring.

I was at the store shopping for a dress, and originally one didn't even catch my eye. My boyfriend picked it out for me to try on, and I did just to humor him. As it turned out, I absolutely love this dress. It fits beautifully, and the material is great. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it's an off the shoulder dress, and I did find myself adjusting the shoulder area a bit. Note- that's absolutely no reason not to buy this dress!
