Elite NFL 2025 Core Edition Card Game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Uno is one of our favorite games and when we saw it combined with the NFL, our interest was peaked! The game arrived and we (my son and I) immediately unpacked it, finding all the cool NFL player cards. Then we started reading the instructions and were immediately overwhelmed and confused by all the specialty cards in the game. The NFL cards added almost an entire other game to the regular game of Uno. Be patient to get this game figured out. We played at home, but this could easily be a travel game, it’s colorful and is a fantastic way to add in a bit of football to a family game!

Can't deny when my son first opened the game he just wanted to see what players were on the game. The cards with the numbers are "simple" just have a star and the number in one of the 4 colors. The cards with the players are the "fun cards". This is a fun edition, and as a sports fan I wish mattel comes out with a mlb edition.

But the 2025 UNO Elite NFL Core Edition honestly surprised me in a really good way. First off, if your family already plays regular UNO, the learning curve here is minimal. My kids jumped right in because the core game is still UNO: match colors or numbers, play your skips and reverses, yell “UNO” when you’re down to one card. The NFL twist doesn’t replace the game — it layers onto it. What makes this version different (and more interesting for older kids and adults) are the Elite Action Cards. These cards feature real NFL players and add special abilities that can shake up the game. At first I worried it would be too complicated, but it actually adds strategy without slowing things down. My kids caught on faster than I expected, and it kept them way more engaged than standard UNO usually does. From a parent standpoint, I also appreciate that this game works across ages. Younger kids can still play without fully mastering every Elite card, while older kids and adults enjoy the extra decision-making. It’s one of those rare games where no one feels bored or overwhelmed. We’ve played it as a family and also let the kids pull it out with friends — both worked great. The NFL theme is definitely a bonus in our house. Even if your kids aren’t huge football fans, the player cards feel exciting and collectible. If you do have football fans, though, it’s a win. The excitement of pulling a new card from a booster pack feels similar to trading cards, but with the added benefit that the cards actually get used in gameplay. That said, I’ll be honest: if you’re a total UNO purist or someone who hates collectibles, this version might not be for you. There’s a bit of a “gotta catch more cards” vibe, and I can see how that might not appeal to everyone. But as a parent looking for something fresh that still feels familiar, I didn’t mind it at all.

Everyone loved looking for their favorite players and the special cards put a fun twist on the original. It is a little confusing at first with so many special cards, but after a few rounds it starts to flow better. Definitely a new family favorite
