Ballet Neck Velvet Top

I bought both the Serpentine and the Roseberry colors, much prettier in person. I bought the color Serpentine to coordinate with a L'agence Brocade blazer that has the same odd, earthy and mossy colored ground w/muted orange decor overlay...PERFECT match! Ditto the Roseberry color...coordinates perfectly with the my new L'agence velvet Roses blazer (L'Agence Blazers HIGHLY R ECOMMENDED!). The reason for 4* instead 5* is because of the thinness of the fabric. I have a E.F. velvet top from a few years ago, and this does NOT come even close. Eyeing the Plum, and yes, I've plans for that one as well! Fits is T.T. E.F. sizing.

The fabric and cut are beautiful for this top, and both colors are pretty. My problem is that the neckline in the back is cut a little lower than a top for daytime wear, which reveals too much of my dowager’s hump. Just being honest here. If you don’t have such hump, go for it, as the gathers on the back flow beautifully. It’s otherwise a lovely piece.

I ordered this top (on sale) to see if it would look good with my new Serpentine satin skirt, which I adore. It did go very well, although I prefer the crew to the ballet neck. It’s a lot of serpentine, ut the top also looks good with black silk pants. So I am set for whatever fancy time comes my way.
