Dr. Martens
An iconic shoe that started in 1901 as a tough workwear boot went on to become a symbol of self-expression and rebellious attitude when musicians and underground youths began wearing Dr. Martens in the 1960s. Today, the enduring brand continues to cut across class and culture, appealing to a wide range of individuals who have in common a sense of their own unique style.

Great boot
These boots are pretty much perfect in every way. Soft, supple leather, yet sturdy. The fit of a lace-up boot with the convenience of a side zipper. Best looking Doc Marten out there, IMO. The boot is a black/brown color, which reads black, but richer. Can't say enough good things about the boot. They do run narrow, but the leather has enough give that I did not go up a size (wear a 7 1/2, bought a 7.) The boots felt a bit snug at first, but were perfect within a week of wearing (I do wear them with a thin sock, though, so if you plan on wearing thick socks and are between sizes I would recommend going up to the next size.)

Edgy, Comfy, Better than the 80's
I remember breaking my Dr. Martens that I bought in England. I loved them!
30+ years later and they are even better than I remember! Leather is soft and sturdy. Construction is still A+.
I was able to just put these guys on and go. Wear them all day and be just fine. Nice length at the calf….I wanted something I could wear with leggings or jeans and these are just perfect!
I wear a size 10 and tried on the size 10. They are true to size for me.

Middle school fashion updated!
Just like the 90s but more fashionable! Same comfortable docs, love the higher boot. The hidden zipper makes these a breeze to take on and off.

Great purchase, but minor drawbacks
These boots are beautiful and exactly what I wanted, style-wise. They were easy to break in and the leather is incredibly supple. I'm pleased with the purchase and would recommend them overall, with a couple caveats:
1.) Sizing is really difficult. I'm a US10 in every pair of shoes I've ever purchased as an adult. For these, I had to go down a whole size in order to avoid the leather crunch at the achilles and to keep my heel from rubbing. And like all Docs, they need insoles (or at least I think they do; that foot bed is not comfy and it strains my arches/heels). But once you figure out which size works for you and which insoles help with comfort, they fit quite nicely.
2.) I don't have particularly thick calves, and these are still a little tough in terms of getting the fit right at the top. Part of the appeal of zip-up boots is the ability to just slap 'em on and go. I still need to spend a little time readjusting the lacing at the top, depending what kind of pants and socks I'm wearing. A wider circumference in the leather at the top of the boot itself would help. It's irritating to have to rely on the lacing completely.
3.) As a couple other folks have mentioned, the leather on the tongue and on the upper shaft of the boot is on the thinner side. I can't say if this means it won't hold up as well; that remains to be seen. Just gives me pause!

Good for wider feet and calves
The construction and style of these boots are wonderful, and the leather is soft. However, they didn't work for my narrow feet, even with an orthotic. Also, the lace-up shaft was a bit too wide for my calves, even over leggings. I wish I could have kept them, but they just didn't work for me.

Love the boot, great for skinny ankles.
Love this boot. I spent a year abroad and backpacked Europe in Doc Martens almost 20 years ago. I had no complaints. I am in need of supportive yet fashionable footwear for my healing stress fracture, so when I saw this, I thought I'd give it a try. I am impressed! Not only did they put a zipper to reduce the shoe lace struggle (which they did not have 20 years ago), they also have a softer leather (for little or no break in time). One other thing that I appreciate is the fact that it fits my skinny ankles, not many boots do that, and I love wearing them. Great for people with skinny ankles, who find that boots always fold at their ankles.
