Pleasantly Surprised!
I was pleasantly surprised at this one, as I am with all of Diptyque fragrances. This one starts off light with a sillage that wears close to the body. It then, morphs into a creamy, woodsy scent that is perfect for both Autumn and Winter wear and produces a more prominent sillage, noticeable but not overpowering. The longevity wears longer than average but not so much as some other powerhouse, heavy fragrances. You can wear Tam Dao into the office, it is very inoffensive, quite nice!
I love to wear Tam Dao under a warm sweater, it is a warming, comforting fragrance!; as mentioned above, it is a creamy, woodsy fragrance.
A wonderful brand that does perfume right; great quality ingredients that shows through with all of their fragrances.
I highly recommend this fragrance!

Disappointed
I was looking forward to the notes. The fragrance smells divine, but it does NOT last. It goes away immediately. I read the past reviews and saw this exact comment, but went ahead and purchased. Pricey for a fragrance that doesn’t last therefore my disappointment.

Subtle sexy scent!
I searched for a "signature scent" for years. Tam Dao is perfect for my " feminine yet not floral" style. This is clearly a sandalwood scent, so if woody/oriental is not your cup of tea, skip it. Otherwise, I highly recommend!

If you like sandalwood, consider this fragrance.
I am addicted to sandalwood, and thought I would give this a try, expensive as it is. The fragrance is a bit strong at first, almost pungent. Give it a couple of minutes (like the Diptyque main page says) and it settles down to a beautiful, soft sandalwood. There is something else mixed in with this, but I do like this fragrance. I tend to like single note fragrances (not complicated) and this is definitely a woody one. The fragrance lasts about two hours and will perhaps last longer in the summer when skin is not too dry. You cannot smell it until you put your wrist or arm up to your nose, so the fragrance does not announce you coming into a room. Definitely a "not to get you noticed" fragrance but a quiet, subtle one.

If you like sandalwood....
you will love Tam Dao. It starts out bright with more than a hint of cypress. Very green, but in a woodsy way. As it mellows, the dry sandalwood note becomes almost creamy. I wouldn't call it soft, since I find it would be deceptive to call it so. The rosewood note has a softness to it, but with the other notes - it is fairly assertive. Smells like freshly cut wood with a slight waft of incense. Sillage can last for hours.

Outstanding
This is a great scent, although it is unisex I do think it's slightly more masculine than feminine. The smell reminds of tree sap, very woodsy yet fresh and bright. I find it so sexy.

quintessential sandalwood
This is the perfect smooth version of sandalwood. It is soft, woody, subtle, and elegant and it lasts easily for 4-6 hours. Tam Dao and Philosykos are the standouts for me in the diptyque line.
