What it is: A lively chypre fragrance that perfectly epitomizes Paris, the city with a thousand faces.

Fragrance story: An excess of roses precedes the freshness of bergamot notes, accented by bright pink berries. Its undertone is patchouli, bringing together a fragrance that is at once defiant and free. Eau Capitale is decorated with undulating calligraphy—the Eiffel Tower, emblematic roses, a proud peacock fanning its feathers and volutes intertwined. To design Eau Capitale, Diptyque and Pierre Marie drew their inspiration from Parisian architecture and the distinct style of Art Nouveau.

Smells amazing!

I love this fragrance. I tried it after rapper/actress Eve stated that Kelly Ripa loved how she smelled and posted this on her Instagram. Figured I’d give it a shot and I’m glad I did! You don’t need much because the scent is strong but not overpowering. Many compliments received!

Something changed

I've purchased this perfume for years. It was my go to, my beloved favorite of all time. Got compliments on it allllll the time. Something changed in the past year for the formulation. I had another nose confirm this in case it was just me. I've checked the perfume multiple times when I'm at Nordstroms. Either the formation has changed or an important ingredient has been left out, it no longer smells the same as it once did. I'm not just sad, I'm distraught. This was a high bar to set for any other perfume.

feminine and elegant

It has a very feminine and elegant scene, very long-lasting even after I washed my wrist (this was the area I tested it). It's going to be very suitable for winter in my opinion, although I prefer something more fruity in summer.

Perfect?! Such an underrated heavy hitter!

I now understand why perfumers and content creators laud this fragrance for its unique characteristics. It’s seriously perfect! I first smelled this at an airport and knew it was meant to be when I still smelled it on me well after I landed at my destination. After learning more about the brand, I decided Eau Capitale as my first Diptyque fragrance alongside the hand wash/hand lotion combo. FUN FACT: You can refill this specific fragrance at select Diptyque boutiques for a fraction of the cost! This helped guide my decision - it offsets the high cost and elongates my journey with the fragrance.
