This was not AT ALL what I expected it to be, according to the description. The description does say it’s a “loose powder” and shows a screen over it to help minimize powder getting all over the place, so that was expected; however, the description also says it’s “translucent”, but also provides “coverage”, and this powder provides no “coverage” whatsoever, plus I ordered the “fair”, which is the lightest color available, but the powder color, both in the compact itself and on my face, is way darker than the “fair” color pictured online in the description. It’s way darker than I expected or wanted, the tone/base color is nowhere near how it is pictured online, and oddly enough, even though the color is way darker, when you spread it out on your face, it still does not provide any coverage at all, or even out your skin tone at all.
Yes, it does take away shine, in fact, it feels too drying, like you are putting talc or kaolin clay (in powdered form) on your face, and even burns a little, which is also an unwelcome and unexpected surprise.
I’ve used CD products in the past, and although they are always quite pricey, I’ve felt they were very nice in quality and design….enough to justify the high price? Perhaps not, but still, a nice and quality “luxury” product, but I’m sorry to say that this one was an utter “failure”, both in quality and price. I cannot recommend this powder to anyone, unless all you are looking for is a loose powder to take away the shine on your face, and if that is your goal, I would recommend purchasing a much cheaper alternative you could purchase at any target, Walmart, or drug store like Rite Aid or CVS, such as the old “Cody Loose Powder”. While the Cody face powder is not in a compact form, nor is the container as “fancy” (the Cody powder comes in a round cardboard container with a nice design on it) as the CD compact powder, it will do the job of eliminating shine, has a similar feel of talcum powder on your face as this CD powder, and costs approximately 1/12th of the price of this CD compact powder.
Very disappointed in CD…..will, most definitely, be returning.
Hope this helps someone else from making the same mistake I did in ordering it, and will definitely save you much valued/needed time and money in the time it will take you to return this, not to mention the, in my opinion, way inflated price, especially considering its disappointing and misleading performance.
