'Diorskin' Star Studio Foundation

I love Dior skincare products but I wouldn't bother with their make-up because they didn't have a foundation for my darker skin. But, hallelujah, they have finally come through. They have #80 Ebony which matches me so well that no one knows I have foundation on, which I feel is the whole point of foundation. People should still look like themselves. I like the full coverage of this foundation and the fact that a little goes a long way. I have been using MAC studio fix which I still like but it isn't a full coverage foundation. I think Dior could go deeper than their Ebony with at least a shade or 2 after this one in order to take into consideration the different undertones. I am a neutral undertone so the Ebony works well for me. Hopefully they will add a few more shades.

This product really came through....I had just been dissapointed with a YSL base that everyone was raving about only to find that it showed every small dry area on my cheeks... so I decided to try this... It somehow refocuses everything and simply makes my face brighter without looking shimmery, dewy, or ultra matte...I went out to the Dior site and watched the video about applying this particular base...it was worth the five minutes it took....they demonstrate how to apply and it really helped me through the steps...I ordered it in medium beige 30 the same color that was used in the Dior video thinking that is must be too light because the models skin color looked much lighter than mine but when I received it I could not have been happier....it was a perfect match. ..personally, I apply Guerlain 24 k gold primer and then I use a beauty blender spong to tap in the Dior Foundation over my face...next, I use my clean fingers to warm and gently press the makeup into my skin....I've found that sponges and brushes tend to leave their own indentations and streaks when I apply using a 10X makeup mirror...not pretty when not blended....ones own skin works best....I do not drag the makeup across my face with the product but push it into my skin blending it as I go...the finish was the most perfect I have ever experienced among many other high end products too numerous to mention...my face did not dry out during the day....it also covered red splotches without my usually having to go back and camaflouge them over spot by spot....I was just presently surprised when I looked up in the mirror and my face really looked even...when you struggle with discoloration on ones skin and have to spot apply blush and concealer, this product becomes your miracle worker......I used the Diorskin Illuminating Powder in Rose as my blush(beautiful color) followed by a single sweeping of my Guerlain Meteorites in Medium and with a touch of the new Dior Baume lip color in coquette, my face was ready to meet the new day! The effect was soft, healthy, and brightening...I would definitely recommend....but as I always say, what works on one person doesn't always have the same results on another....if you try it, I hope you like it as much as I do....

I had previously used Dior Forever foundation and liked it but didn't love it. A couple months ago I decided to try chanel foundation. I tried Chanel's Matte Lumiere (way too matte), Aqua Vitalumiere (made my face look like I rubbed oil all over it) and the Perfection Lumiere (Meither matte nor shiny, but didn't cover well and I had to retouch often) all in color 20. After a couple days I started to notice that my complexion looked dull. I think I had wrong color. They didn't offer any other color that worked so I decided to start using my Dior Forever in color 10, again. I am fair skinned and my skin pulls both yellow and pink. 10 is perfect match for me. Then I noticed they came out with this Star foundation so I decided to give it a try. Holy cow! It's wonderful. It covers discoloration from acne scars, goes on smooth and evenly (I apply with my fingers) is definitely illuminating but does NOT look oily which is kind of amazing. It lasts all day, I do not have to reapply hardly ever and if I do it's about 8+ hours later. I'm so glad I decided to go back to Dior and so glad I found this foundation!

The idea behind this foundation is nice and and it could work for many, but not in warm weathers. As the other comments have shown it is lasting and applies smoothly making it a pretty awesome product. HOWEVER, the color oxidizes on the skin meaning (Gets darker, this is due to warm body temperatures and atmospheric temperatures). When I tried for the first it worked perfectly until I went out of the house, by the end of my day my face looked like a mask. I tried in several occasions with similar results. As a Dior Makeup fan this was not a successful product for me, but this does not mean that it can’t work for others.

This foundation is probably best for someone with oily skin that needs a full coverage product, probably under 30. Would probably be great for acne prone skin, or skin discolorations. In my case, it left an unflattering powder finish (cannot see any illuminators) it sat in every pore and showcased every wrinkle.(bad color match, I looked like a vampire from HBO's true blood series)...the color is so heavy that no natural skin shows thru. I am used to sheer tinted moisturizers but thought I would give it a look. If you are fair skinned and like the matte finish, I recommend the matte koola tinted sunscreen instead of this, but if you need a full coverage product, and don't mind applying with a brush or sponge for best results, then give this a try. I was also impressed with the darker color selections for this line, very nice. It also has good lasting power, but not really an over 40 ideal look, at least for me.

I had very high hopes for Star foundation. I have been wearing Dior nude for a while and really liked it. Star is lightweight but gives very good medium to almost full coverage. It has matte finish but healthy looking matte. It oxidizes terribly!!! Minutes after application becomes almost shade darker. Hours later it looks much much darker then when applied and I have dry skin and no oil on my skin at all. I never had this happen to me and I tried and used dozens and dozens of foundations. Also it settles in every single imperfection you might have and accentuates dry spots. Poor shade selection also - I was hoping for 011 which is available in Nude but I had to settle with 021 which was a bit darker (after oxidizing much darker). Sadly Star is going back.
