Self Sun Face Tinted Lotion

I saw Clinique had this, so thought I'd give it a try. I've tried sunless tanners in the past and hated the smell as well as the way it'd sit on my skin. Needless to say, I was skeptical at first. The first thing I noticed when trying this product was how it sat on top of my skin - emphasis on "on top". I was completely expecting this to right away get absorbed into my pores and appear as a million blackheads - which I wanted to avoid. Luckily, this did completely the opposite! It sat on top of my skin - just like a foundation and resulted in a nice even glow - natural glow, might I add. When using this product, my regimen included: * Clean face * Mix equal parts moisturizer and this self-tanner together in palm * Apply to face * Let set for ~10 minutes or so (sometimes I was short on time and skipped this part) * Then apply foundation and rest of makeup routine I did find, though, that this wasn't a "put on once a week" type of product (like Jergens). I would put this on every other day and that seemed to suffice. I actually didn't mind that I had to reapply it because it allowed me to control the color better - plus, it just became part of my normal makeup routine. The color was very natural. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't 3 shades darker after using this, but definitely gave me a nice bronzing glow - which I liked b/c it looked very very natural. The smell wasn't bad either. I expected there to be a little smell - so the odor that does exist (there is some, but not overly strong), I do not mind. Finally, as crazy as this may sound, I thought this actually HELPED my acne when using this product. It definitely does have a drying effect (which is why you should combine with a moisturizer then apply), but think that's what helped heal my acne. I was fully expecting this to irritate my skin and cause more breakouts - pleasantly surprised that I did not.

I have been using Mystic Tan Self Tanning Lotion on my face for years but they recently stopped making it. Therefore I was on a mission to find another face tanner that didn't make me look orange or blacken my nose pores. I purchased 5 products and the only one I like is this Clinique Self Sun. It has a slight tint which is noticeable when you first apply it and it gradually settles giving the skin a healthy tanned glow. My skin is naturally slightly olive toned and this works great with it. It also doesn't leave a heavy brown stain on my fingers. I wash my hands immediately after applying it and there's no trace left behind. This is now the only one I'll use until they stop making it.
