All About Shadow Eyeshadow Duo

The reformulation of Clinique's Eyeshadow Duo's and Quad's late last Summer/Fall into more pigmented products in order to compete with MAC (straight from a Clinique counter reps mouth), had me very excited to try these new products. You have your classic Strawberry Fudge and Beach Plum, but in this purchase, I bought Starlight Starbright. Clinique's eye shadow's are very hard, meaning dense, and picking them up on a brush to sweep across the lid, I've found, is almost impossible. However, those of us makeup maniacs who have a thousand brushes tend to overlook the sponge applicator that comes with the duo. The sponge applicator changes the game. Easy to apply, pigmented shadow, still neutral mind you, and very easy to blend. I've found I use a less dense base shadow brush to pickup the product after applying with the sponge tip to help blend the base and then a standard blending brush for the darker shades in the crease. Starlight Starbright is a grey/khaki color which is very beautiful, wearable for day and night. I've already worn it several times. Upon purchase, I thought, "it's going back." And now, it's one of my favorites. Try the sponge applicator and give it a chance.

Ivory Bisque/Bronze Satin, is perfect for fair coloring. I love Clinique eye shadow, seems to last all day and highly pigmented. I only wish they offered more colors/combinations for fair complexions. This color combo is my go-to everyday eye shadow. It is pretty matte, not shimmery.

The starlight starbright colors are a great duo. However, I didn't realize that they were shimmery shadows instead of matte so they tend to highlight all of the fine lines on the eyelid.

These duos are great, although I mainly use the neutral pale pink of the Jammin' duo as a base for the lighter, more satiny pale pink of Uptown Down on the eyelid and for the gray of Uptown Downtown in the crease and outer third of the eyelid. I love the Clinique eyeshadows. The texture is perfect, and the staying power is very good when used with an eyeshadow primer.

Color is beautiful and lasts all day, also I have sensitive skin and Clinique shadows (and ALL products) never cause irritation.

I needed new "every day" eye shadow and purchased the "Sand Dunes" duo and it's perfect. For some reason, most of the colors I had were silvers and violets, and sometimes they look too glamorous for work or running around. The duo in Sand Dunes looks great, and I can keep it simple or make it more dramatic. And the color stays throughout the day. I should note I have brown hair and brown eyes, and a skin tone lighter than medium, but not fair.
