What it is: An eyeshadow primer that preps eyelids for flawless eyeshadow application and extra-long wear.

What it does: Part skin care, part makeup, this silky formula with a blend of oat plant extracts moisturizes, softens, firms and tightens eyelids for exceptionally smooth eyeshadow wear that keeps a just-applied look for hours. Three-dimensional pigments even out and illuminate lids for brighter-looking eyes, with or without makeup.

How to use: Apply over your eyelid to prolong eyeshadow wear.

I Love This!

I love, love, love this eye shadow base. I gave up on the ones with the wands because the product would dry up and get gunky half-way through the tubes. The ones with the brushes would dispense too much product at once, so I'd have to apply it to the palm of my hand first and then pat it on my eyes with my finger so the brush was just wasted. With this you can control how much you want to come out of the tube and how much you want to apply. You get so much product with this. With the tubes I was buying a new one every 5 to 6 weeks, this one has lasted months and I'm not even halfway through it! I love the smoothness of this product, it just glides on, no caking or streaking. It also has great coverage, it conceals all the discoloration on my eyelids. I often use this alone and it looks like a nude cream eye shadow. My eye shadows apply so much more evenly with this without globs of color in one spot, and they blend effortlessly with it, and they stay on without blotching. I have a light-to-medium complexion so the color is perfect for me, and it doesn't look orange on me. I always apply eye cream to my eyelids first, maybe that's why?

Buyer beware.

I have been using this product for years and loved it. I just re-ordered and imagine my surprise when I received a "tube" like container with no brush (the brush made application a breeze)....nothing like the photo above. Also, the 00 color is darker. Please, Nordstrom, it is not like you not to notice such an obvious product change and not make everyone aware of the substantial differences.

Opens up the eyes

I don't wear eye shadow because I want to go as natural as possible. But at 52, I also need some help. This product opens up the eyes, while also looking completely natural. I'm very happy with Clarins Eye Perfecting Base.

Perfect Eyeshadow Base

I have been using this product for 2 years. I put this on my eyelids under my eyeshadow and it doesn't crease all all - even in the humid midwest! A tube lasts me almost a year.

Surprisingly Satisfied

At first glance, I was shocked and feeling a bit disappointed in the size of this product, relative to it's cost. Bit I found that a little goes a long way. As a fan of all the Instant Light products, this one did not disappoint; I have most often used it alone on my eyelids, and it makes for an excellent substitute when you don't want to do a "full face." I pair it with my illuminating base. (Which also works well alone and under a foundation). Both of these products coupled with a brush of blush and lip product ( if it's one of the illuminators, so much the better!), and I'm good to go! I was surprised when asked to review that the average was a mere star...

Bright eyes

I have found the fountain of "eye youth" in Clarins Instant Light eye perfecting base. As one ages their eye lids promote a dull not so youthful appearance. So I went searching for a product that was easy to apply, nonirritating, and would be a good base for eye makeup. Bingo, I found Clarins cosmetics has such a product. Unlike tubes and pots of creamy eye foundations this one is a brush-on that lasts at least 3 months or more even if used every day. The product gives the eye lid a clear and awake look besides it happens to be a great base for eye makeup. I chose this product because it makes my eyes brighter and less tired looking. I use the shade 00.
