Details & care
What it is: A highly-pigmented, rich nail color that delivers luxe glossy color in one coat and a lacquer shine in two.
What it does: Christian Louboutin’s iconic red shoe sole was born after a chance encounter with a transformative stroke of red nail color. Twenty-two years later, the designer is giving back to beauty what the shoe took from the nails many years ago. Louboutin’s creative touch is reflected in every detail of the highly whimsical design. The beautifully handcrafted glass bottle is inspired by historic European architecture, namely classical balustrades found in European buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. The perfectly sculpted cap was designed to stand as tall as the Ballerina Ultima (8 inches), the highest heel Louboutin has ever designed. The weight and taper are inspired by calligraphy and paint brushes, enabling the application to be a truly artistic experience. A custom-designed, patented triangular brush ensures precise application, and shortened bristles pick up just the right amount of formula without air bubbles to ensure flawless coverage. Long-wearing and chip-resistant.

Known for his iconic red-soled shoes, Christian Louboutin is synonymous with fashion and luxury. Whether classic or cutting-edge, his shoes leave their wearer feeling sexy and strong—the Parisian brand's modus operandi. Louboutin eventually expanded into handbags that match the daring of his shoes, and into cosmetics—including lipstick and nail lacquer—designed in striking, collectible containers.
I learned about this product from Nordstrom and could not wait to get it! I was a bit taken aback by the $50 price, but when I saw the bottle in person, I could understand why.
It's a very large bottle and can be considered a work of art. The calligraphy/paint brush inspired cap is nicely weighted as described. You're of course paying for the name, design, and yes, great formula!
The red is gorgeous. I love finding a perfect red. This is it! I'm Asian with light/medium skin tone.
I did a full prep- using a nail file/buffer, cuticle remover, cuticle oil, and primer (all Deborah Lippmann brand). I also used a clear base coat (Ciate brand).
You really do only need one coat and it dries fast. The color is easy to apply and dries to a high shine. I did not use a top coat but perhaps will try one next time.
I was pressed for time when doing my own nails and they came out pretty well considering. The application was very smooth and did not smudge!
It wears pretty well for doing it yourself and it being red and all. I went several days without a chip. I'm excited to see the other colors that will be released, but will probably not be able to buy any more than this ONE.
If you can only buy one, (if you can get your hands on it!) I would highly recommend this gorgeous signature Louboutin red!

Cheap polish; beautiful bottle
The bottle is very pretty and that is what you are paying for. The polish itself does not wear well and chips. I bought two different colors, Lady Twist and Daffodil, have worn both and can honestly say this is just a novelty product with a novelty cap but not a good, long wearing polish.
Personally, I want a polish that will last, not chip, and a nice thick brush, good formula for $50 USD. I don't care as much about the look of the product.
Very unhappy with the polish and won't purchase any more.

Rouge Louboutin- a gorgeous bottle and RED!

pretty ok
I've tried a lot of high end polishes and this stacks up alright, but doesn't quite warrant the $50 price tag. It does last longer than most. And I don't say that lightly. This stuff sticks to your nails like glue - in a good way. The formula is luxurious, no streaks, two coats is plenty. It takes slightly longer to dry than most formulas but barely noticeable and definitely worth the extra chip-resistance. The problem for me is the colors - I have three and they're all a little blah. Like the basic colors in a crayola box. They dry pretty dark and don't have a shiny or shimmery wow factor whatsoever. It's hard to explain, i'm not sure if the shades just aren't in line with current fashion or if the formula is missing something. Remember when shellac came out and it was the greatest thing to have long-lasting polish but the limited shades were soooo disappointing? It's a little like that.

Poor quality
I chose this polish because it was the perfect gray-green color I was looking for. However, it seemed to be poorly pigmented, and after two coats it was still not opaque. I painted my nails about 7 hours before going to bed, and it must not have been dry after all that time. Despite being glossy and flawless when I went to bed, I woke up with a nail polish creased and smudged as shown in the picture. This is a similar quality to polish that retails at $5.

Pricey but gorgeous!
I hesitated when I clicked "add to cart" for this one, but I had been waiting for it to launch and it finally did, so I grabbed it. I thought that there's NO nail polish that warrants a $50 price tag, but I could always return it if I had buyers remorse. Well...it's been several months, and several mani/pedi's later and no buyers remorse! Yay because this polish has a lot going for it...
1. It's a stunning bottle, wand and box. There's NOTHING boring, bland or basic about the packaging of this polish, which makes it far more than just a nail polish - it's a beautiful addition to any vanity. I smile every time I see it!
2. It's high quality polish. It's very highly pigmented and on occasion, I have done just fine with one coat #not a skimpy coat, but still one coat#. I've been using this on fingers and toes for months and the bottle is more than half-full. One good coat will do, and obviously two coats is better, lasts longer and chips/fades much less, but I have still managed to go a full week with one coat and the top coat. The reason is because of the quality and the high pigmentation.
3. It's long since paid for itself in the money I've saved simply by alternating salon visits with just doing my own nails. I go every other week to the salon now which has saved me a bundle! I can do a quick touch-up on alternate weeks and I'm good to go! This polish is chip resistant #almost chip-proof# and if you use two coats plus the Loubi Care base and top coat, there is NO fading or chipping whatsoever. Nails grow out long before this polish has a chance to chip or fade, it's almost identical to a gel manicure, without the harshness of the gel and lights. :#
The drying time is a little longer than your average OPI polish, or any other polish I've used #Dior, Lancôme, Chanel, etc.#, but I'm guessing because it's so highly pigmented. It's well worth the wait if you have the time.
All in all, an outstanding purchase - at least for me. I adore the packaging, the color is the PERFECT red, the wand, the quality of the polish, the pigmentation and, of course, the wow-factor. Well worth the $50!
And yes, this review is written during the sweepstakes, but I'm writing it because I have now been using this polish for a few months and can vouch for it's quality. I don't get any satisfaction reading reviews on a product that someone just bought...how can they speak to a product, especially cosmetics, without using it several times? I don't know - that's just my opinion and now I'm rambling... :# sorry!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS xoxo and enjoy this extremely festive RED CL polish! It's the PERFECT addition to any collection and this will make an AMAZING GIFT for almost any woman who loves sexy red nails!! #hint hint to all the husbands and boyfriends out there! You'll thank me later!#
