Longwear Cream Eyeshadow

I was really hoping to be wowed, I knew Chanel was coming out with a new, reformulated cream eyeshadow, unfortunately these have too much sparkle. I really really wish that cosmetic companies(especially Chanel,LaPrairie,Sisley) that have a very healthy over 55 customer base, would pay attention to what women like myself need, namely cream shadows that could be just that...creamy, luminous and yet matte. It can be done, just look at the great paintings of Monet, Matisse, Titian et al. It can be done. Even when I was in my thirties I was not always enthralled with shimmer, sparkle and frost.

There’s been some reviews saying this shadow is too glittery and I took a gamble and ordered the shade scintillance anyways. I had to attach a photo. It’s perfect. Not too glittery at all. Just a nice sheen. I only used the one shadow and I like the look. Keep in mind my skin is beginning to show age and crepe as I’m 50. So, if it looks great on my eyes, I’m sure it’d be even more beautiful on younger healthier skin. If you’re on the fence, buy it! You will not regret.

I had high expectations for this cream eye shadow and expected more just because of the hype of the Chanel name and the price tag. It goes on fairly smoothly, but not so great that it blends out well. It does leave some harsh lines. But my biggest beef with this product is that the glitter particles in this is ginormous! If you are in the circus or doing youtube videos, this could work well, but for everyday use, nope.

I love this eyeshadow! Definitely a splurge but I'm glad I went for it. For context, I have light oily skin with green/yellow undertones. Anything that has a warm undertone will turn orange on me. I first bought the color Undertone thinking it would be a soft neutral browny-taupe, however when I put it on my eyelids it was incredibly sheer and came off like an orangey-ish wash of shimmer. I returned it and bought Silver Pink instead and it worked so much better. It is also pretty sheer with just one swipe (my arm swatch is deceptively opaque) but it can be built up and it's a very pretty browny, mauve-y dark taupe on the lids. Perfect for one-shadow looks.

I bought Color 804 Scintillance and it is beautiful—is the perfect brightening for all over lid. I am 48 and it’s not too shimmery, it’s perfect. Goes on smoothly with fingertips and if you put some in the corners of your eyes, it instantly brightens, as well as opens your eyes. The color brings out the blue in my eyes. I will use it everyday.

I bought this in Undertone to try out. The color is neutral and satiny, not glittery or sparkly. Used my finger to apply and it went on smoothly, blending out nicely at the edges. Was able to add a second layer to build up color in my crease area. It has not creased and has lasted all day. Most importantly it does not highlight or emphasize my fine lines. Truly a beautiful formula. Will definitely want to be purchasing more colors in this formula!
