N°5 Parfum

I am 67 seven years old and i have used chanel since i eas 18. My husband passed away last year, and my chanel was always a gift from him. It brings me so much joy to wear it as it reminds me of him and the joy he brought to me. It lifts my spirits when im someone sad, or lonely, it mahes me think of him. thank you so much for making a golden product . It has made me feel special all my life.. sincerly jodi wingfield

I bought this to replace my 2 year old now Chanel No5 I bought in Europe. What a stark difference! Unless this perfume has been reformulated between then and now, I can say with certainty that Chanel No5 that I bought in Europe and the one I just bought from Nordstrom's are two different things. The old one (I still have a little bit of it left) has a staying power of 9-10 hours with a very pronounced white flowery notes, sophisticated, balanced, classy. It changes from hour to hour, and always amazes and surprises me. The one I bought recently from Nordstrom is weak, hardly lasts an hour (and that's pure parfum!), with very muddy white flower bouquet. In the drydown it now turns kind of sour:( It never smelled like that in the one I bought in Europe. I am very disappointed with the new purchase and will not buy it again, at least not in the US. Will give it a try next time I am in Europe though, to see if it's the US version that is so different from the European, or if it really has been reformulated. Will report back here.

I ordered this classic perfume with excitement in anticipation of using a vintage fragrance. The fragrance is lovely but weak. The lasting power is nonexistent. It fades with one hour. I am dismally disappointed. "Forever" fragrance ??? Concentrated ??? Uber-hype advertising. Trading on a famous label with zero performance.

There is no Parfum (or cologne or Eau de Toilet) that comes close to being all that this extraordinary scent is and has always been. Chanel No 5 is alluring and elegant and fresh and feminine and clean and - my scent! It is extraordinary and yet never overpowering! And it is also ageless. Chanel No 5 is enchanting and it makes me feel enchanted from morning to night also! The scent never changes with temperatures or environment as others can do. I love the shower gel and the body lotion and the bath powder. Using them in combination they work well together and yet still are never overpowering! I have severe allergies and this delightful line of Chanel No 5 Products have never irritated my skin or caused an allergy or asthma attack. This has been my signature scent since I was 19 and my Great Aunt loaned me hers. I was hooked forever. Even on a tight budget I make sure I never run out. My husband appreciates and enjoys Chanel No 5 also.

I LOVE Chanel No 5, but I have to say that I was extremely excited to get the Parfum, only to find it doesn't last on my skin whatsoever. The scent is divine, sweeter than the Eau de Parfum, but the EDP lasts a lot longer. I don't get it.

it's hilarious that almost no reviewer actually describes the top, middle and base notes of Chanel No. 5!! i read through so many reviews looking for this information until finally realizing this was the world's first "abstract fragrance". for those interested, the original formula contained essential oils of rose and jasmine, chemical versions of rose and jasmine, a heavy dose of aldehydes and musk. of course the precise formula is a secret. it's a very stable perfume, not mutating into different personalities like newer perfumes. the EDT is really different, not just a lighter version. i personally don't love EDT though it smells perfect on my sister. the EDP is my No. 5 of choice: sophisticated with a citrus top note, abstract floral middle and musky, blended drydown. oddly, i don't prefer the pure perfume, which doesn't last as long as it should for the supposed concentration and cost. also, the pure perfume smells older to me, not as modern as the EDP. i admit, it's hard to describe such an abstract and personal fragrance. it truly smells different on everyone. i first started wearing Chanel No. 5 at age 20 when i started my first job after grad school. i was very young and many assumed i was an intern or the secretary. i purchased a few bespoke suits, cut my long hair to a more professional middle length, started wearing makeup and Chanel No. 5. in short, it worked. this is a power scent! now at 35 i'm still wearing it, but don't need to prove myself anymore :))
