LES BEIGES Healthy Glow Foundation Hydration & Longwear

It’s been a very long time since I was able to wear a Chanel foundation. They either just didn’t work for my skin or I couldn’t handle the fragrance. I wore synchro skin original formula from another brand for years and, although it was getting to drying on me, was devastated when it it was discontinued. My skin is extremely dry and showing signs of aging. I have a terrible time with sensitivity to ingredients and super sensitive to fragrance. There is a fragrance but it seemed to disappear fairly quickly on me. In the past year I have tried just about every foundation out there. This received such great reviews on you tube I decided to give it a shot. All I can say is wow, blows my previous favorite out of the water. Light coverage with one coat and solid medium with two. Applied with a brush. Use a concealer for any stubborn spots, but I found two layers pretty much covered what I wanted covered while still looking like healthy skin. Pores? Gone. Powder has been an issue for a few years now, but I found it necessary to set my makeup and blur things. Very light dusting of powder down the t zone and I’m good to go all day. No need to powder all over. I’ve worn this for a few days now and find that it just looks better as it sets in. Long wear foundations and dry skin do not usually go well together but not only does this last it gives a glow without looking oily. No settling into fine lines or caking up. My previous foundation would start to dry my skin out after a few days. That is not the case with this. My skin actually looks more hydrated. I did end up having to buy b20 and b30 to get the right color match (another issue I have with foundations) but two layers takes me less than two full pumps. Chanel really hit it out of the ballpark with this one. Holy Grail status.

This is a smooth and lightly hydrating foundation that gives the skin a healthy, natural, my-skin-but-better glow. It is for the woman who has normal to dry skin, has a fairly even toned complexion with few flaws that need concealing, who doesn’t rely on her foundation for SPF but chooses to use her own instead, and who wants light to light-medium coverage in a weightless formula that lasts all day. This foundation ticked all the right boxes for me. I think powder is optional and depends on your circumstances. Normally I wouldn’t use it with this foundation, but the other day it was humid here and so I used a light touch of finishing powder (Clé de Peau Refining loose powder) which held the foundation in place without altering the subtle soft glow. Warning: This new foundation is absolutely nothing like the previous Les Beiges that had a matte finish, SPF25, and was better suited to oily complexions. I wish that Chanel had come up with a significantly different name so as to avoid confusion. As for the scent that one reviewer found so objectionable, it is the standard Chanel scent that is in all its foundations so if you can’t tolerate scent, then this foundation is not for you. Personally, I don’t have that issue and have no problem with a bit of scent that dissipates as the foundation dries down.

Let me start by saying this foundation is beautiful. However, it is very fragrant. I have sensitive combo skin and I am not able to wear this everyday (because I break out). I’m in my 40’s and this glides over skin. It does not cling to any of my dry patches. It lasts a good 4-6 hours. First photo (direct sunlight). Second photo (indoors).

I used vitalumiere for decades until they discontinued it and replaced it with this. I love it just as much - the only drawback being it doesn’t have sunscreen anymore. If you’re looking for a color guide to convert from vitalumiere, keep the same number 30, 40, 50 etc. Then using your skin tone find the corresponding one in the 30s, 40s 50s etc B= neutral beige, Bd=beige doree (golden tones) Br=beige rose (pink tones). For example, I used to wear 50 naturel, now I wear Bd 51 (bc I have golden skin tone)
