Chance Eau Vive opens with a zesty grapefruit note (I notice the grapefruit more than the blood orange), then dries down to a mainly jasmine scent that is light and fresh. There is also a slight impression of the woody base that is characteristic of Chance, and though it's not listed among the notes, I get a little bit of the white musk that is found in Chance Eau Tendre. Eau Vive is a little fresher and less sugary than Eau Tendre, and it feels a bit more transparent than Eau Fraiche, with its amber base - so I feel like Eau Vive has its own place in the line. On me, the scent had a moderate sillage for about 3-4 hours (about average for me for an eau de toilette), then dried down to a skin scent, and in this phase it lasted pretty long: I could still smell 8 hours after first spraying my wrist. I had been checking my local Nordstrom for Eau Vive for a while, and as soon as it was available I went to try it out. I wasn't disappointed, and came home with the 100ml bottle. This is a good perfume for the office, as it's elegant and polished, and also not likely to offend anyone; it's also a good choice for an everyday perfume in the spring and summer. While it has a youthful character, it could suit women of any age. I would not describe Eau Vive as an avant-garde perfume, but if you are looking for a well-done citrus floral that is appropriate for any occasion, Eau Vive would be a solid choice.
