Perfect

This lipstick in pink azalea is just as beautiful as you think it's going to be. The color is simply stunning; it is saturated, deep and vampy, but not brassy or gothic, a perfectly beautiful plummy red. I did just purchase the Burberry lip pencil in plum to outline and define as well as to intensify the color of the lipstick, but you don't have to have it. ( I am a musician so I need a bit more drama from stage). I have worn this lipstick both for night and for daytime. It has become my every day color. I just apply it with my finger lightly for daytime, and directly from the tube for night wear for more color. If you are used to wearing mattes, as I am, this one may surprise you. I did not feel the need to moisturizer my lips as I have with other mattes. It isn't dry or sticky feeling, and applies smoothly, without skips. I only reapplied once in 4 hours tonight. The color remained opaque throughout the wear time. I will definitely reorder this color and may try another as I really love every thing about this lip stick. My only quibble with it is the tube itself; it's pretty in a preppy way, but I don't like the magnetic seal. I want to hear and feel that top click when it is closed to make me feel sure it's secured tightly. I have not had it happen, but I do fear the top coming off in my purse.

not true color

I do not recommend ordering this lipstick. I've tried 2 pink tones and both are orange. Make sure you try on in store first.

Just Perfect!

Burberry has done it again! I probably own 4 of the lip cover lipsticks and am so excited to see the new lip velvet long wear collection at my nearest Nordstrom. After vigorous swatching I picked up "Redwood", a perfect rose brown color for Fall/Winter. The color is so elegant and beautiful on my lips, a perfect touch of finish and texture. It says the lip velvet to be a matte and long wear finish lipstick, which is true to its name. Even though it's matte, it doesn't dry out my lips like so many other matte lipsticks do, which is a rare find. It is very smooth and emollient when applied, and you can build up with layering without looking too heavy. This will be my winter staple color and I'm for sure going to explore more colors from this line!

Great Long-Wear Lipstick with a Classic Feel

Before purchasing this lipstick, there are a few things that everyone should know. It has a VERY subtle shimmer to it (i have the honey suckle--which looks nothing in person like it does online) that look me a few days of wearing to even notice. It does have a distinct scent similar to old-fashioned lipstick (which I happen to love, but could be a problem for some). The packaging is beautiful, it goes on smoothly, it is hydrating but not as hydrating as Tom Ford. It does not bleed. There is some transfer. It lasted through a burger and a make-out session, so it is definitely long-wear. I would highly recommend purchasing in-store because the colors vary drastically from the colors shown online. Overall, love the color, love the feel, love the ease of application, love the scent.

Military Red!!!

I am a huge lipstick lover and have tried all the high end brands. I think Burberry's Military Red is as good as a matte, last-all- day, highly pigmented lipstick gets! I absolutely adore the shade with my coloring (blue eyes, fair skin and black hair). I would say it is a "true" red. It doesn't lean either orange or pink on me. The Burberry salesperson matched the lipstick with Earthy Blush (so gorgeous and subtle) to warm up my complexion and Tangerine Blush as the pop of cheek color. It was a divine combination with some Burberry Brown/Black Mascara.

Burberry Lip Velvet in Pink Azalez

Overall, the lipstick is great. It is long-wearing, comfortable and doesn't bleed like some lipsticks tend to do. While staying put and staying bold and true for hours on end, it also is not drying like other lip colors that promise the same. The one issue that I had with this lipstick is the color. After seeing this color on Cara Delevingne in the ad, I had to have it! While the color is close to being true, I did find out after the fact that Miss Delevingne is actually wearing the lipstick over a darker pencil which makes the lipstick itself look less red, and a little deeper than it actually is. Don't get me wrong, the color is very deep, but is more of a red than a wine color as it appears in the ad. Still worth it and I would buy it again, I would just like to have known prior that I would need an additional product to make the color appear as it does in the ad.

A hydrating velvet matte lipstick?

I love this line of velvet lipsticks. It defies the law of nature. How can a velvet matte non creamy lipstick be hydrating and non drying? This keeps your lips soft and hydrated the whole time you are wearing it. When you take it off, it leaves your lips soft and hydrated too. The color pigmentation is great, long lasting through out the day and the colors are just beautiful. Burberry is such great quality it really is high luxury makeup. Burberry lipsticks are my favorite out of all high luxury brands. It just wears so beautifully!
