Goodbye brassy hair!
I have had a great experience with Aveda's blue malva conditioner. I am a brunette and have been struggling with brassiness. I used the blue malva conditioner and it made a difference after the first application. If you are a brunette, color your hair (in my case to cover grey) and have issues with orange/brassy hair, I highly recommend this product. Most of the reviews and recommendations reflect on grey or blonde hair, but it definitely works for brunettes as well.

Not my favorite
Been a devote Aveda user since 2008 and this is my least favorite product for my curly colored hair. I dislike the fragrance and it doesn't feel as good as the damage linr I am in love with

Blue Malva Color Conditioner
The tube of conditioner is a nice size, and although it is a little more costly than other store conditioners, to me it is worth the extra cost since it contains bluing and it is the only conditioner I've found containing color.
I used a tiny bit, about the size of silver dollar in palm of my hand and worked it throughout my hair. I have mid-back length hair, and this conditioner brought out the light blond, left my hair real shiny, made my grey hair appear silvery, eliminated the brassiness and left my hair extra soft. Plus the conditioner let me comb out my hair easily. You should promptly rinse your hands, and any fixtures or clothing / towels on which you may have gotten some conditioner since it has a tendency to stain, and if left on your hair too long (e.g. for me no longer than 3 minutes) or the roots of you hair and scalp may appear slightly purple.
I am planning on using this conditioner about every 3rd or 4th day since I have really fine hair, it may leave me without any body due to softness.

Reduces gold/brassy tones
I have been using the blue malva products for 4 years, since deciding to let my white hair grow in "gracefully." For color-correction, it's a dream. It leaves my natural white hair a gorgeous, shimmery silver and keeps the chemically treated sections from turning brassy. The conditioner reduces the yellow tinge that can come from hard water, environmental pollution, and styling products. It also helps to extend time between salon visits; used regularly, it keeps the red/gold tones that inevitably poke through 4-6 weeks after coloring/toning.
For conditioning--smoothing and moisturizing--it provides enough for "normal" hair. If you have loads of damage, or need extra help in the moisturizing or restructuring department, this conditioner alone won't be enough. Because I have very dry and damaged hair, I mix it (50/50) with one of their super-rich conditioners.
The smell, a little like blueberries, is crisp and fresh.

Strong
This colour deposit in this conditioner is very powerful- can easily dye my platinum blonde hair blue if I leave it on too long, it is also not very conditioning- so I find mixing it with another conditioner is a good idea- that way it dilutes the colour plus has more of a conditioning effect. I've used other blue conditioners that I have preferred to this and unfortunately it doesn't smell like the shampoo.

as good as I'd hoped!
I'm having so many hair issues now due to aging (menopause#, post-surgery, and thyroid issues #I just found out#. My hair is in this really awkward place because I don't want to dye it for at least a few months #having some hair loss#, a lot of white coarse hairs growing in, and the ash blonde I had dyed it a few months ago is brassy #and now with brownish roots#. Basically, not good!!
I searched around and found this conditioner #and the shampoo# highly recommended. It is pricey for me now #medical bills!!), but worth it!!
Somehow, this conditioner makes the various colors of my hair blend together in a relatively pleasing way. Also, it has taken out the brassy tone, which is great.
I am trying to wash my hair no more than 3x per week, and I am using this about 2 out of the 3 times. It has really helped a lot!

Tames brassiness for fake blondes
I get highlights and lowlights to give my naturally golden brown more dimension. I keep a bottle of this conditioner on hand to cool down my highlights if they were too red to start with or if I've been spending a lot of time in the sun. It works very well – so be careful or you'll turn your hair blue!
