Gizeh Birko-Flor Sandal (Women)

I was concerned that I wouldn’t like the look of Birkenstocks, but I love this pair! I wear them everyday for long walks with my dog in the city. I wear it with anything - from leggings to casual dresses. More importantly, they have helped alleviate the pain in the balls of my feet and second toes. I’m a believer of Birks now!

These are standard Birkenstocks, great shoes (I got the Morocco gold - love them). 5 stars for the shoes, one star penalty to Nordstrom because of sizing confusion. I have a pair of Birks and know what Euro size I wear (37). My US size is 7.5, so I ordered the 7 since Nordstrom does not display the Euro size. I received a 38, which was way too big. I had to send them back for a 37, which is classified as a US 6. To be fair, this is how Birkenstock has it printed on their packaging as well. But all of the confusion could be cleared up if Nordstrom would just display the Euro sizing. ALSO, even more importantly, the width is NORMAL, not WIDE as indicated by the "D". Not sure why they display it as D width. In the end, Nordstrom customer service made this a pretty painless process, but it could have been much easier.

The Birkenstock "Gizeh" are a great, comfortable, quality, classic summer sandal. I was looking at these the summer of 2012 and instead bought another pair of the "Arizona." This summer, I've made up for lost time. They are absolutely my go to sandal for the high level of support and comfort. I have purchased the silver, licorice, titanium, & golden brown. I don't believe there was any "breaking in time" for them to become comfortable. They are a quality product at an extremely, low price. They look great with cuffed or un-cuffed trousers, cuffed denim, skirts of any length, & shorts. The wide variety of colors the sandal is offered in is great. For the licorice and golden brown, I had to see in person and I was immediately sold. I've worn Birkenstock's since college, in the early 1990's and those have held up exceptionally well.

I started wearing these about 25 years ago. I now wear them daily for good leg support. Bad,flat, flip flops have done a number on my legs over time. They used to ache. Not with these. It takes a bit to form fit to your foot. Once your foot imprints, it fits like a glove. This shoe says it's a wide fit , and since they don't sell narrow I was worried -but it's not much difference. (See pic belowI- antique white is a narrow, black purchased here is Med-wide) I also attached a picture of the box. It actually says it's a regular fit which would explain why they aren't much wider. And of course you can adjust the fit across the top of your shoe with the adjustable buckle. I buy my regular size 8/39 and haven't needed to size down. I love the look with skinny jeans for ex. But I wear w everything!
