Founded in L.A. in 1995 but inspired by the Brooklyn streets, Bed Stu handcrafts shoes and boots for women and men. The brand uses traditional shoemaking techniques like hand-weaving and hand-sewing, as well as natural leathers (from free-range animals when possible) and a vegetable-based tanning process, so each shoe is unique and imperfect but always genuine.

Your zippers are awful. I
Your zippers are awful. I have boots a third the price, 2,3 years old with perfectly working zippers. I have worn these boots for more than 10 days without a zipper breaking.

Fantastic Boots!
The amount of complements I get on the Protege and Protege Trek is pretty astounding. The important things to point out are how comfortable these boots are, how well crafted and the support they provide. Knowing they break in easy, I wore a brand new pair to a Las Vegas show this past spring and was averaging 6 to 8 miles of steps for 3 days plus the airport bag drag. I wouldn't even think about doing something like that with boots from another maker. I own some pretty high end boots from some of the competition, made in Italy and Spain but for durability, comfort and style, these are my absolute favorites. I own several pairs of these and my family and friends are big fans. They're absolutely worth the money. Unlike some of the competition, the break-in period is very minimal. The zippers in the back make these a breeze to put on and take off. Awesome arch support. Well soled. I have a normal width foot, I will say if you have exceptionally wide feet to try them on first inside and on carpet if you think you might return them. BedStu is super responsive and stand behind their products. These can be resoled so they're worth the investment.
