Francis Waterproof Insulated Long Coat with Removable Hood

It’s exactly what it says it is: breathable, waterproof, warm when needed and not overheat-y when you don’t. Looks great with or without hood: was trusted companion in 2 weeks across Ireland in November. Easily washable and dryable. It’s truly a forever jacket: selling the others on Poshmark and this is my new coat for life. Runs big and loose, but the cinchable waist helps massively. I love it to bits!

I bought this in tan in my regular size. The construction is high quality. It runs big but you can cinched the back to bring it in. It is lined and cut generously enough to wear a jacket or bulky sweater underneath, which is what I wanted since I will be traveling in the Midwest in cold weather. I really like that it is waterproof and has a hood. There are plenty of pockets too. You could downsize for a closer fit.

Bought this coat for a London trip and it served me perfectly for the weather … Barbour KNOWS what they are doing and I’m so glad I splurged on this coat. Wet and cold? She does the job. This will be great in the States too - for those not-as-frigid rainy days when a puffer coat is too much. I recommend going into the store to try on because I thought a 6 would be small enough based on reviews but I had to go down to a 4 (I’m usually a medium). Minus 1 star because the lining keeps getting caught in the zipper, which in my opinion, should not happen on a 500 dollar coat.

I bought this coat to put over my suits at a professional conference when I knew I would need to be running out into the rain between hotels. It’s very sharp design, especially if you pull the drawstring in the back. There’s lots of room to play within coat and while I’m normally an eight or a 10 I ordered a six and there’s plenty of room. The length is beautiful. And the inside lining feels like it will be a way to keep you warm on a chilly day. The one thing I would say and agree with another reviewer is the zipper gets caught on the lining very easily. Sometimes it’s a little fussy. Actually, I would agree one shouldn’t have that problem with this kind of designer coat. I love the double zip and snaps — but the zipper stuck on the lining cuts it down one star.

I was torn on what size to get having read many reviews to size up. I am 5’4 and 137 lbs. I am a true size 6 in most brands. I tried on other styles from Barbour in size 4 and 8 in store (there was not a 6 available). The 4 looked nice but was a little snug. I ordered the 6, and it is perfect. It is roomy enough that I can layer sweaters underneath, but isn’t so roomy that it is unflattering. The toggles around the waist are nice to use for a more form fitting look. I also purchased the Carolyn from Barbour in a size 6 as well. It too was the perfect fit for me.
