Storied British brand Barbour has been making classic waxed jackets by hand for over a century. A Lifetime Jacket
Before making the investment, please read customers' reviews and comments, even if you were to skip reading mine. The story of my Beaufort goes like this... My friend bought a Bedale in Olive, and I was introduced to Barbour. At first when I saw it I didn't think much of the jacket. Further research, however, instantly got me into the world of Barbour. Looking at this jacket you probably already know that Barbour is the leading manufacturer of waxed jackets, and that the Beaufort and the Bedale are probably their most famous models. The history of the brand is so rich, and without going into much details, it is like owning a true pair of Levi's Made in the USA. I'm a fan of that. I'm 6' 0" with around a 40" chest, and I went in to consult one of the Nordstrom associate, and hilariously she told me to look into "Kids Barbour". I laughed a little. But upon further research, I do not blame her for thinking so. Barbours are meant to be a boxy cut, with room for under layers. However, instead of a regular 40 I usually wear, I went with 38. GLAD I DID. A 40 had too much room in the back, and too much room in the arms. A 38 fits perfectly, except for the sleeves, which were a bit short. However, further research yields that it is actually common, and looks quite alright. So going a size down will yield a "sleeker" look (the new trend), but there are many owners that also sized up, because they were many under layers to go fishing/hunting/riding/and what not. I anxiously waited 10 days for Nordstrom shipment, but it was well worth it. Arrived flawlessly (no tissues in the pockets or anything haha), but I was initially surprised by the wax. It bleeds/runs quite a bit. Definitely a bit nerve wrecking wearing this new expensive investment, and now my car seat is covered in a layer of wax. Plan to rewax annually; if you are not willing to live up to the Barbour experience, which is absolutely lovely, then look elsewhere? Go with Sage over Navy, IMHO. And don't listen to people arguing about whether or not to wear the Barbour pin on the various forums. It is fine either way. Personally I don't. And remember, do RESEARCH. Despite being able to last a lifetime (although I can't prove that yet), it IS an investment. However, when you compare this to something like a Burberry Field Jacket (which I had consider), this Made in England traditional piece seems like quite a deal. I'm under 20, and I hope I will have another 60 or so years to enjoy my Beaufort :)

Runs very small!
Bought for my dh. He is 6'0 and approx. 168lbs. . He is slim. This coat in a 38 was way too snug and small across chest and shoulders wearing a tshirt underneath. Forget anout a sweater. Guess we will try a 42...? Barbour is great but felt a bit stiff.

Barbour jacket
This jacket is a classic. It is versatile enough to be worn over jeans or a sport jacket. Great in the Fall and Spring. It never goes out of style and is durable enough to last for many years.

Prefer Barbour Borders to Barbour Beaufort
The Beaufort is handsome but it is a good bit shorter than the Borders, which is better for tall people and for rain. I wish Nordstrom carried the Borders, but it doesn't and only Barbour.com can get it. So I returned the Beaufort. As always, Nordstrom customer service is the best.
