Must have addition
I recently purchased the Beadnell jacket and vest that you can zip into the lining. I wasn't sure about the hood, but decided to try it out. It's great! Sooooo happy I got it. It's easy to attach and take off and the hood has what seems like a wire sewn into the edge so the hood never flops down. You can mold the edges any way you'd like. Love this hood!

Not functional enough
First of all, there are only two snaps on the Beadnell jacket for the hood, yet the hood has five snaps, so the hood doesn't snap on all the way across the jacket, leaving a gap between the hood and the jacket.
Secondly, there's this wire that goes around the hood making it very stiff, which I guess would be great to keep your head dry in the rain if the hood actually was attached all the way around on the collar of the coat.
Sadly, I will be returning this.

Great Addition to the Beadnell!
It's silly that the jacket doesn't come with the detachable hood, but this is worth the $50. I got it just in time for serious rain and it worked just as I'd hoped. I love that the inside wire keeps the hood from collapsing all over my hair and face!

Incentivized review
Goes with the coat.
This is a match for the Beadnell jacket and fit it perfectly. I like having it for rain because I don't like carrying umbrellas. Not sure about the wire running across the front of the hood. I may find it handy when I put the hood up when its rainin, but it feels a little strange just laying across the back of the jacket all the same. Too bad the hood doesn't just come with the coat. I don't think I should have to pay extra for it.

A needed addition
Since the jacket didnt come with a hood, this was a necessary addition. It added to the cost of the jacket, and the tag shows on the hood when it is not worn. Those 2 things are why I gave it only 3 stars. But, every jacket needs a hood especially in New England!

Great Hood, Matches my Year Old Beadnell Perfectly
I purchased this hood to attach to my Barbour Beadnell jacket which I purchased last fall. The waxed cotton and interior tartan patterns match exactly, which really made me happy. I was worried they may differ being from 2 different years. The hood does have a wire rim on the inside (as other reviews have mentioned) which I assume is in place to help the hood keep its shape, and while it doesn't bother me my girlfriend who was waiting to order her hood until I got mine wasn't a fan. Other reviews have mentioned that the hood isn't very secure but I have had no issue with that. It clips right on and doesn't easily come unattached. I highly recommend this hood as an accompaniment to your Barbour jacket.
