The Large Suitcase: Aluminum Edition

Took a beating just one way huge dents all over. For the price point you are better off in investing in Tumi or Rimowa if you want aluminum. We have one of each aluminum carry on Tumi and Rimowa since 2018 and we travel more than the average person. Every 4-6 weeks. No dents at all !

I have wanted a good reliable case to travel for work. This case is excellent, the build quality is great and the black finish is wearing really well. It has done quite a few long and short haul flights and is performing remarkable well, I now have one small dent from the LA baggage handlers. I would defiantly recommend this case. Possibly the best case I have ever owned

I put my The Large: Aluminum Edition in Silver into service in November 2023. Since then, it has been loaded onto more than 400 aircraft on six continents, traveled on untold miles of conveyor belts, and had heavy weight inside it and on top of it--usually in combination. It was dented on its very first trip and several times has been dented so much that I've hammered it out again. It has many scratches in it including several deep gouges that look intentional. But that's what aluminum luggage does. Unlike polycarbonate, which flexes until it breaks, or nylon webbing that wears away, the aluminum takes a beating and keeps on keepin' on. Don't be discouraged by the novice traveler reviewers who expect their luggage to be pristine or a fashion statement. People get aluminum luggage because they know that it will take a beating when used but that it will protect the contents. The wheels are good too--nice, large wheels that handle annoying cobblestone walkways and the gap between elevator cars and the hall with ease. I like the security of three latches to keep the top and bottom closed. Unladen, the suitcase already is heavy. I equate that to the solidness and sturdiness of the bag. Plan accordingly when packing since you're giving up close to 15 lbs of tare weight. Another niggle is that the mechanism to raise and to lower the handle has made a terrible grinding sound since first use and doesn't move cleanly. I'll close on a high note--the price of this is half that of a Rimowa. I replaced a hybrid polycarbonate/aluminum Rimowa with this bag as the polycarbonate couldn't withstand the constant mistreatment by the good folks at the airline. Good value for the money!

I don't like typical suite cases that are look similar. I have not seen anyone with this exact same suite case for the last 5 years. I travel very frequently- every other week! The wheels are good quality but corners are beaten which is expected for the aluminum material. Rimowa is in everywhere. This one beats the quality without 1K price tag.
