Ava Embroidered A-Line Dress

I’m actually so impressed with this House of CB dress. It’s the best thing they’ve made that I’ve tried on (aside from their hoodies). The sizing is a bit more forgiving than their other products, in my opinion. Your mileage may vary. If you’re in between sizes in HoCB, you might be able to take the lower size. I am usually a Large in HoCB and got this in a Medium. My dress size is a US 10. The Ava dress mostly zips up (but not all the way), but honestly I think just a few more pounds to go with my weight loss and it’ll zip up. As you can see, I did buy it in a size smaller than I need. My weight loss journey is progressing nicely so I am confident this dress will fit by the time my birthday rolls around. It wasn’t going to be my birthday dress but it is so flattering and beautiful that I’m going to wear it for my birthday now! I’m happy with how my chest looks in it, too - usually HoCB is too small up there or too low-cut (even their stuff with “bigger cups”) but it’s fine in this dress. It’s frustrating how the brand chose to jack up the price of this dress but it is what it is. I should have bought it for the old price during the Black Friday sale but I was a fool! At least Nordstrom still has it cheaper than the brand’s actual website has it now. The slits are see-through. I’m not sure anyone will actually see anything concerning through them since the slits are so narrow, but if you are concerned, you can wear a skin-colored strapless bra or pasties. I am 5’9 with an hourglass figure and a large bust. My opinion is that if you are within the lowest end of a HoCB size or in-between HoCB sizes, you may be able to get away with sizing down, especially if you have an average bust. If this is your first HoCB purchase, please check their size chart because they do tend to have smaller measurements than most brands. As I ordered this from Nordstrom, there is a chance that the dress had been tried on and “loosened” by other customers, but I didn’t see anything on my dress to indicate that it had been tried on previously. Just noting this because I’ve heard of people trying on HoCB from Nordstrom’s and the items fitting fine, but then ordering directly from HoCB and suddenly they feel tight. I don’t think that is something to be really worried about with this dress, given the fabric composition. What drew me to this piece besides its beauty is the fact that it looked like it ran roomier up top. On the models and influencers, it looked loose in the bust on them. As a busty lady, that is a GREEN FLAG for me! Finally, something that can fit us! I can delightfully confirm it has more space than most clothes up in the bust area. I’m somewhere between a UK 32H-34J (my weight loss journey and fluctuations make it hard to pinpoint my bra size at the moment). The Ava dress looks tailored on me, despite me not being able to zip it up quite yet. I couldn’t zip it up all the way because I deliberately bought a size lower than the size chart said for my measurements, but I am losing weight so it’ll zip soon.
