Fell off a mountain.
I have been wearing the Atom SV hoodie as my go to for hikes and for daily use these past couple of months. Great mobility. Comfortable and warm during -20 degree weather with some decent layers. And even after falling roughly a hundred metres down a mountain all I was left with was a penny sized rip on the shoulder which I got repaired at a ReBird centre. The only drawback is that I naturally run hot so it’s breathable enough to leg go of some moisture but not enough for me personally during activity. Overall would buy again.

Junk compared to the previous version. Why on earth did you add breathable side panels on a jacket made specifically for warmth? Not nearly as warm as my other one.

arcteryx.com response
Hello there, thank you for sharing your feedback on the Atom SV. We’re sorry to hear that the changes didn’t meet your expectations. The addition of breathable side panels was intended to improve temperature regulation during high-output activities, but we understand that this can impact perceived warmth, especially compared to previous versions. The Atom SV is still designed as our warmest synthetic midlayer, but your experience highlights how critical insulation consistency is for cold-weather performance. We truly value your input and will share it with our design team as we continue refining our products to balance warmth, breathability, and versatility.

Love the hidden pocket
Wow. Great jacket. I got hot just trying it on.
Only problem was that the weather down here in Texas got warm again before I actually got the item.
It’s so light and soft. Very impressive. I can’t wait for more severe weather to really put it through its paces. Will recommend to others for sure.

Our new favorite winter hiking piece
I have Atom AR and recently got Atom SV to have another color, and it's been great. I use this at the beginning of hiking until my body is warmed up, when I take small breaks, or under belay parka/shell on longer break for lunch, or downhill whith/without another layer depending on the weather.
This became a must winter hiking piece for me and my wife. We have been using this on several hiking trips from 20°F to - 5°F. Both of us enjoy this very much.
They changed AR(having fleece panel in armpit) to SV(thinner insulation on sides like Atom LT), and I personally it's been good. I was at +20mph wind advisory hiking I didn't feel wind coming through my body, it just breathed better as an astive layer. Not sure about why people hate it so much on other reviews.
We used it on NYC trip too. Temp was about 30-40°F, we tried cerium first but it was too hot and sweaty, Atom SV was perfect to walk around with. We are very happy with this piece.

Zipper?
This is the third Atom jacket that I purchased within the past four or five years. I absolutely love your product, but somehow need to get better with the zipper.

Excellent Jacket!
After having my Atom SV for only a month, It's already a favorite. warm by itself, very warm with my medium base later hoodie and exceptionally warm with my cardigan and heavyweight hoodie. Super comfortable with great mobility for playing walking and playing fetch on the beach with my dog, who doesn't ever seem to run out of energy. It holds up superbly against the penetrating salty and sandy ocean beach winds. My head remains toasty warm on the winter beach when using just the Atom's hood. Add the heavyweight hoodie's hood and there's no hint of cold - except my face, of course.
I hesitate to take this jacket hiking in the woods, because I don't want to test it for tearing resistance against moderate to dense brush, because replacing it would be difficult due to it being a significant expense. I also hesitate wearing it with my ruck loaded with 20-40 lbs of weight because the shoulder straps are made of 1000 denier nylon.shoulder straps are made of 1000 denier nylon and are quite abrasive. I'll certainly wear it around the campfire or for any other cold to very cold activity as long as tears are not a possibility.
I have neither worn it in snow nor rain, but I'll put it through its water resistance paces during the next nor'easter to roll into our mid-atlantic coastal community.
