Amsterdam Wrapped Leather Mule

Nordstrom you literally send me used shoes. I opened the box so excited and see a pair of shoes that are worn on the outside toe box. For $135 shoes this is a freaking joke.

While I love the shoes I have yet to be able to keep them because twice now Nordstrom has sent me damaged items. The first order of this shoe the left shoe looked worn and the toe was very scuffed. I went in store to exchange and they had to have a different pair sent to me. I just received the replacement pair and these are even worse. Both shoes have very large scuffs on the front and the material is messed up In other areas. Also the rear of the shoe is not attached well on this pair. It’s annoying that I can’t trust ordering online and unacceptable that Nordstrom would send a less than perfect product.

I have always been a 38 in birks (all styles) but the 38 was huge on me. I’m a true 7.5/38 and the 37 is perfect especially when I wear them with wool socks. Was thinking about ordering and glad I tried them on in store given the sizing note online. I have fairly narrow feet, but even on the Birkenstock website people say these run large. I also asked for to see other 37s since there was a suede difference from the 38s. Rating 4 stars for running large and the decrease in quality. These are very light weight and don’t seem to have the same craftsmanship that I’m used to

I was worried about the fit of these clogs after reading reviews, but I have numerous Birks so I ordered my usual size and they fit perfectly. I imagine once they break in, they will comfortably fit a cozy pair of socks. The only downside (and reason for 4 stars and not 5) is that there was a small card in the box that notes these shoes are considered "home shoes for indoor use" which is not noted anywhere in the description on either the Birkenstock site or here on the Nordstrom site. The shoe has EVA soles and I plan to wear them out of the house on dry days, but noting because it would have been nice to have this knowledge when deciding on these shoes. Not sure if this is common for other suede styles since I usually purchase nubuck styles.

I'm a lifelong, flat-footed Birkenstock devotee, and I hope my shopping experience can help you make an informed decision. I tried on three different colors from three different locations in two different sizes. All three pairs had the "faded" or "scuffed" looking toe area; I think this is some weird production/shipping fluke. I was able to brush mine out with a suede brush. As a 10.5, I am a true size 41. Sizing down to a 40 was not an option for me; the footbed didn't hit my arch correctly. If you're on the higher end of the size range, you might want to consider that size first. They are slightly big and slightly wide (especially in the toe box). If you have a wider foot, I think you'll find them very comfortable. If you typically wear a Birkenstock "narrow," you will find them roomy like a Birkenstock "normal." Good luck!

Love them, other than the sizing is big, if you are a 7.5-8w the size is 37 EU, my feet are very narrow but this size fit perfect, I tried 38 EU and 39 EU and were to big for my feet, keep that in mind the taupe color very pretty!
