What it does: Each of the high-tech, soft-focus finishing powders recreates an exquisitely flattering light source and enhances every type of light, including flash photography. The powders can be applied individually or layered to imbue skin with a multidimensional glow. Unlike traditional powders that merely cloak imperfection, Ambient Lighting Powder utilizes photoluminescent technology to filter out harsh light and refine the appearance of the complexion. The powders deliver a multidimensional luminescence to every skin tone, making it appear softer and lit from within.
Palette includes:
- Dim Light: a neutral beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones
- Exclusive Incandescent Light: an opalescent pearl powder that brightens the complexion with a celestial glow
- Radiant Light: a sun-kissed golden beige that enhances the overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth and also extends a summer glow
How to use: Dust Dim Light all over your complexion, focusing on the center of your face to soften imperfections. Add Radiant Light as a contour under the cheekbones, on the temples and on either side of the bridge of the nose. Finish off with a light dusting of Incandescent Light on the tops of the cheekbones, under the brow, on the center of the eyelids, the bridge of the nose and the cupid's bow to brighten the complexion.

Pricey, but worth it
The price kept me from buying this for a while. Finally cracked and bought it after I broke another Urban Decay Naked palette by dropping it.
First, it seems like there isn't much in here when you get it. It also seems like you aren't picking up much on the brush and have to work to get it on there (maybe I am just brushing gingerly because of the cost).
It's a very subtle look on me - I am Asian with a light/medium complexion. I use the darkest shade on the right side first to scuplt. Then add blush. Then brush the medium shade on the left side all over with a kabuki to help blend. Then I go back and use the lightest shade in the middle to highlight.
I thought it wasn't doing much of anything and even considered sending it back - until my fiance told me that my makeup looked the best he's ever seen it and my skin looked great. That compliment was enough for me to want to start using this everyday. Again, unlike some contour palettes this will not hit you over the head with a contrast on the colors in the compact or on your skin. But it's a very natural look that will make your skin look fantastic.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette Volume 2
I was very excited to pick this palette up. This palette photographs darker than the shades appear in person, they are lighter. When I opened the palette, it looked great till I used a brush to pick up the powder. The central shade felt over baked and the face brush was unable to pick up the powder at all. The powder appears either over baked or faulty sample. The outer shades were slightly better but difficult to pick up again. I am disappointed.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this
But I really, really do. When I first opened the palette, the colors didn't look as vivid in person as they did online so I wasn't sure what to think; I was actually a bit disappointed. But then after I used it a few times I noticed that it really did make me look fresher and more awake despite not looking very exciting in the pan. The powders aren't shimmery or chalky at all - more like kind of pearly, but very subtle.
I apply the Dim Light in my T-zone and to set my undereye concealer, Radiant Light in the hollows of my cheeks under my blush and around my hairline, and the Incandescent Light on my brow and cheekbones and also on the inside corners of my eyes.
There are very few cosmetic items I buy consistently, because usually when I run out of something I'm already on the lookout for whatever is better, but I definitely think this warrants a repeat purchase and I will look at other Hourglass products in the future as well.

No fail powder
After a few confusion, the powders are in the order of...
| (L) Dim Light || (M) Incandescent Light || (R) Radiant Light |
I don't know why I got confused but it was first time I bought it and I was alone at home... so nobody I could ask!
I use Dim Light all over my face focusing on center of my face. Incandescent Light as a hightlight on high cheekbone, brow bone, center of nose, inner corner of eyes etc. And Radiant Light where usual bronzer would go.
However you put, this powder will not fail you and won't become over done and it is THE HG.
I am so glad Nordstrom carry this!!

Not what I was hoping for
I'm disappointed with this. There is so much hype and I couldn't wait to receive this palette. The highlight shade does nothing for me unless dusted all of face and then it slightly lightens my foundation. The radiant light powder could honestly almost be used as a bronzer on me, it's just not very dark. The dim light I can't see on my complexion really either. I may try another single powder but the palette isn't worth the money for me so it's going back. I'm around an NC25 color wise. This may be good for photos but I haven't tried it for that and that's not why I wanted it. If you have fair or pretty dark skin this may look different on you but in between skin tones I just don't see this as doing much for. Also, I can really feel these on my skin and did get a little bumpy which a lot of powder products do for me anyway but I was hoping these would be different.

Not what i expected
I am medium fair color and this did not show on my face as I thought it would. It gives a very light glow. That's it. No biggie. It is buttery silk soft but not very pigmented. Better off with Laura Mercier highlighter!!! Amazing!

very pretty
this palette is very pretty it highlights with very finely milled powders but its not an all over powder, beware that if you have large pores it will show them more after wearing it for a while. So make sure you are wearing a nice primer and foundation before you wear this and bring rice papers too. Other than that it is very flattering when your skin is not oily.
