The fragrance opens on an addictive coconut note blended with vibrant aldehyde. A heart of incense, jasmine petals and milky musk intensifies the scent before settling on a base of sandalwood, cashmere wood and salted amber, that grounds this scent as it continually diffuses through the air, leaving a trail of positive energy in its wake.

A Scent Worth Obsessing Over
As a longtime Byredo fan — this being my ninth bottle — I thought I’d seen it all. But Alto Astral completely surprised me. It’s a warm, bright, and sensual fragrance that feels like summer bottled up, with a signature twist only Byredo could pull off.
The first spritz hits you with a burst of coconut water — fresh, tropical, and instantly uplifting. It opens the senses and sets the stage for something exciting, but doesn't linger too long. Soon, the heart notes take over: a light floral blend with smoky undertones, striking a perfect balance between freshness and depth. This middle act is clean, smooth, and just pleasant in the best way possible.
But the real magic happens in the dry-down. Warm sandalwood and amber take center stage, grounding the fragrance with a musky, calming finish that lasts and lasts. It’s sensual, but never overpowering — a quiet kind of confidence that sticks with you throughout the day.
The longevity on this new Eau de Parfum is seriously impressive. Even after wearing it overnight, I still catch traces of that amber-sandalwood base.

not for me
I took a risk with ordering not knowing how I would like it based on others raving about it … I’m sad to report that this is not for me so at first all I got was a strong smell of citrus and once dried down all I got was still straight citrus! Unfortunately I will be returning this! My fave is still Mohave ghost and rose of N M Land

Heavy Amboxan Note
I love Byredo and they have been one of my favorite houses for years! I own 4 of their edp’s and one of the absoluts. The notes in Alto Asto should have worked for me but I do not tolerate a heavy ambroxen based perfume and sadly find most new releases contain this in a hefty dose. With all the positive reviews I think I’m just more sensitive to that note which is prominent on opening and is still evident days later on clothing. I did smell a bit of the salty sandalwood that I had read about but it was hidden under the piercing sharpness of the ambroxen. If you tolerate that note this is likely a safe blind buy, but if not please sample first!

It’s ok
At first it smells tropical and fruity but is wearable and dries down nicely to a light creamy musky scent but I found the initial notes quite weird as i could smell mango and coconut. Typical byredo scent that it has no lasting powder on skin (abit better on clothes) which is a shame for the price but is a unique scent - will be sticking to my gypsy water instead which is much more unique and wearable. If you are not a fan of floral
scents I think you will appreciate and enjoy this scent

Best performing byredo scent
I own many byredo scents and this is such a welcome addition to their collection. In terms of longevity, this is the best performing in their line up. It lasts especially well on clothes and has a mid-range silo, large enough to get you compliments but small enough to not overwhelm a small space. As a gourmand lover, I’m so glad to see a truly gourmand scent from them. It’s warm, powdery coconut with some well rounded sweetness but with a nice woody base to ground the scent. The sandalwood and cashmere base really helps the scent from becoming too juvenile, so you’re left with something sweet and sophisticated.

Unlike anything else
I received this fragrance as a sample and when I sprayed it, I felt positively surprised as this is unlike anything I’ve ever smelled before. It’s woody, musky with comforting fruity and nutty notes. To me, this is a fantastic fragrance for anyone who likes to wear a unique scent. This is definitely a fragrance that turns heads - I adore it!
